I nearly didn't buy one of these after reading the three negative views but I'm so glad I went ahead anyway. I've not had any problems with uneven toasting at all. The Reheat and Defrost functions work really well.Don't let the negative reviews put you off.
Despite having seen negative reviews I decided to try this one and have been delighted with the result. My husband never got to grips with our last toaster but this arrived on Friday and by Sunday morning we had it all worked out. My toast...3. My husband's toast...4. The extra thick crumpets which he likes...5. Sorted. He describes it as a good little toaster.
having bought 4 toasters in the last year from the leading brands of which none toasted evenly on both sides I came across this little beauty, On medium setting 4 perfectly toasted toast heaven.

Given that this has the Lakeland name on it, I had hoped that it would be good value. It does fulfil the basic function of making toast, but unfortunately it is let down by several poor features. The browning control does not remember the previous setting for more than a few minutes and sets itself back to level 5 - the mid level - which produces rather burnt toast. I hate to think what would happen if you used a higher level, probably a kitchen full of smoke! The 'lift' feature lever is too stiff and when you try to lift small items up to get them out, it just lifts the whole end of the toaster. The natural reaction to this is to use your thumb to hold the body of the toaster down, but the body gets so hot in use that if you do this you burn your thumb. (The packaging does warn about the toaster body getting hot but it is very easy to touch it without thinking whilst trying to use the lift feature). All in all I would not recommend this product, spend a bit more and get something better designed!
