My Kitchen Ice Cream Maker

Very disappointed. There is a switch on the underside of the timer unit that needs to be depressed for the paddle to work. It took us ages to work out why nothing was happening. I put some tissue in the lid & this depressed the switch enough for the paddle to come on. I used a different recipe from one in the book (come on Lakeland put a 'quick' recipe in your book - I bought an ice cream maker to make ice cream quickly which for me means not making a custard). I'd frozen the bowl for 18 hrs, liquid was chilled for 2 hrs & after 20 minues of churning I just had v cold mixture.

Tried sorbet last night good - but was still quite loose after 25 mins. Have just tried vanilla ice cream and same problem. Sorbet needed more than 1 hour extra in freezer to firm enough to scoop and hold shape, looks like ice cream going to be the same. Bowl in freezer for over 12 hours both times before starting. However taste and texture brilliant and will keep on trying.

Just used it for the first time and found it much better than my old one. I like the idea of the timer as my old one did not have one. The ice cream seems a lot smoother than before as well. Very impressed over all. Another great product from Lakeland.

Having read the reviews this seem to be exactly what I wanted. I was disappointed with 2 aspects of this product - the design of the machine makes it a little messy when pouring the mixture into the machine - there is not much room when using a jug, it might have been easier if the timer was facing in the opposite direction! Also it would have been useful if more recipes had been included and general hints e.g why things go wrong - I have tried the strawberry and sorbet recipes both of which were not that successful. Using recipes found on the internet are hit and miss. This is an ideal size for making small batches of ice cream and a very reasonable price,However I shall persevere with the recipes!

I agree with the last reviewer about the mixture being a bit difficult to pour into the machine but other than that I've had great success with this machine with recipes off the internet
