"Disappointed"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I bought one of these graters in store last week and washed it before using. Big mistake not to check carefully how it fitted together. No instructions were attached and I wasted a lot of time trying to reconstruct the thing that I gave up. I eventually got it together but very disappointing results. Such small quantities grated at a time and my wrist ached. Have not tried other blades yet-too much like hard work. Not up to the standard of other Lakeland products.

"terrible! - do not buy!"

My partner bought one of these for me and I am SO disappointed with it - it really does not work at all. As another reviewer said, it squashes the cheese rather than grating it. But also, it's very poorly designed - I think the attempt to give it three interchangeable blades has not helped here. The piece of metal wire which is supposed to go round and take off the grated cheese simply can't really cope. I've tried using this several times now and unfortunately it really isn't worth the hassle - a normal grater is much easier. This produce is a complete waste of money.

"3- Blade Multi Grater"

Disappointing. This squashes the cheese out rather than grates it. If it was a 'corkscrew' action like the Tefal one you used to sell, (which looks similar in appearance to this one), it would be much better.

I'm sorry that the product didn't live up to your expectations - we'll be in touch shortly.

"Excellent in theory...."

In my search for the perfect grater (my microplanes having all snapped...) I bought this one as I felt it did the job of the microplanes in one product and this grates really well...however when I came to remove the blade and change it for a finer grade blade I coudln't do it. The pin that fastens the grater in place and 'wipes' the product from the grater would not go back from whence it came...as a result I am now graterless as I can't reattach the original blade...shame though as it was really good, back to the search...:(

I'm sorry you've had such difficulties with the grater. We'll be in touch shortly to put things right for you.

"Not that "grate""

This looked like a great idea! I used to have a mouli grater and now that they are no longer making them I have spent a few years looking for a replacement but to no avail. I thought that this might be the answer. Alas, it wasn't for me.It is good from the fact that it has the three blades, but I didn't really notice much difference between coarse and fine, and I didn't try the other blade. It is hard to use. The twisting action becomes very tiring. More tiring than a conventional grater, as the twisting action is hard work using lesser used muscles in the arm than a conventional grater. It's difficult to hold if you get wet hands (say if you were grating a carrot). The chamber doesn't hold that much e.g. it doesn't hold a whole carrot even when chopped up. I also agree with another reviewer that it tends to mash things. There were also a lot of parts to wash and the pin which holds the blade in place, is small and easy to misplace. If you're looking to grate small amounts this might be the grater for you.Sadly I had to test Lakeland's no quibble guarantee on this. They did give me a refund even though I had used it, and they took my comments on board. I am really impressed with their refreshing approach to customer service. 5 *s. Other companies should take note; this is how you do it!
