I received this as a birthday gift and it is a wonderful source of inspiration for what I would call 'fairy cakes'. If you are looking for the buttercream heavy American-style cupcakes, this is probably not for you, but for beautiful flavours and striking designs in a more elegant style, this is a surefire winner.
I was a novice baker when I decided to create my own wedding cupcake tower with a mixture of everyones favourite flavours. This book took me from flour streaked disaster zone to confident and creative cupcake queen! The flavours suggested are amazing and the recipes offer scope for simplification as well as upping the ante. The gluten and dairy free orange almond flavour is a firm favourite, along with the lemon stuffed with lemon curd (with or without the meringue!) and the rose, particularly with turkish delight chunks, remains a show stopper two years on. Endless pleasure to consult and a beautiful book too.Highly recommended
