Having had a "flavour shaker" from the pukka chef that's now cracked in the bottom I needed to get back to basics! This is a tried & tested method over centuries & this item fills all my expectations. Its granite so tough & durable is a given but the ability to work it openly adding as you go is just perfect. Great feel, rugged to do the job, nice & heavy with no smooth surfaces so it makes easy work of anything added .. now my dressings are going to be wonderful!!!

I never thought I would get so worked up over a pestle and mortar. I have owned several over the years, most of which were too shallow and simply did not grind spices, particularly star anise, properly. This truly is perfect.
