Traditional Enamel Oval Roaster

Product number: 13268

They say all good things come back around eventually, and that's certainly the case with this enamel bakeware. Everyone here at Lakeland remembers having something baked or served to them in one of these traditional style dishes, and there's nothing like the thought of mum's Sunday roast or grandma's deep-filled pies to get our tastebuds tingling.

And it's not just their appearance that reminds us of a bygone time – the price does too! But they haven't skimped on quality, being made from durable steel, hand-dipped and double-coated in enamel to ensure even cooking and browning, and they're freezable too.

For best results grease before use.

"The good old days!"

This brings back memories of what my mum used to use before the invention of Teflon. Having, over the years, bought various non-stick versions of roasting tins, which all lose their coating sooner or later, I thought I'd give this one a try. Surprisingly, things don't stick to it, it also cleans easily. The only slight negative is that when you have the lid on, the base handles are a bit small & almost impossible to get hold of with oven gloves on (ditto the lid handle) but that's just a small niggle. It's also nice not needing to use foil.

"Just like mum used!"

Have been looking for thiOrigen for ages.Cooked Christmas turkey in it, medium size. Excellent result, raised rim in base meant meat doesn't sit in fat.

"Excellent except for the chip"

I was delighted to be able to replace my all time favourite dish given to me (second hand) by my mother in law over forty years ago. It cooks and washes as well as ever and certainly looks smarter than than my old one. However I was surprised and disappointed to find a fair sized piece of enamel missing on the lower edge after just one use, especially as it is advertised as being double thickness and durable. It really deserves 5 stars but I can only give mine 3.

"EVERY KITCHEN NEEDS ONE"

When I received one of these as a wedding present 27 years ago I was so disappointed because it reminded me of something you would find at a scout camp. However, after 27 years of heavy use I can say it was the best present. Casseroles and whole chickens are cooked so easily in this dish. You can throw the chicken in the dish with seasoning and a smear of butter and you are guaranteed a perfectly cooked chicken and some stock to make the gravy after a couple of hours in the oven. You don't have to baste, so it is ideal if you don't want to be tied to the kitchen. I have reluctantly thrown my old one out and replaced it with the replica which I bought from Lakeland.

"The Best Roaster ever!"

I've used this roaster a lot since I purchased it in December 2010. Mainly tend to use it for casseroles and stew & dumplings, but have roasted a chicken in it too, and it continues to cook meals to perfection. Very pleased.
