"Not happy" star star star_border star_border star_border I have used a different make of small deep fat fryer for years. I was really disappointed with the booklet supplied with this item. It gives you ideal temperatures for cooking various food but doesn't give you any idea of timing. My first try was with two Scotch Eggs - I started off with a temperature of 170 and then decided to up the temperature to 200 as nothing seemed to be happening. Chips it said 200 well mine looked cooked but on turning out on the plate were almost cooked and really soggy. Not impressed. Will keep trying as I like the design of the fryer. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry for the disappointment with the instruction leaflet and will be in touch shortly.
"Very handy little fryer" star star star star star_border Very compact and ideal for one or two portions and it takes up little space. I don't understand the problems others have had with the basket handle, as it seems very sturdy when properly fitted and also folds away when not in use. The fryer is small and light and the dual handles make it easy to pour out the oil after use. My only criticism is the basket hook, which won't let the basket fully lower into the oil in the down position and when lifted to the "drain" position still dips in the oil. Needs a design tweak! Other than this, a great little product and good value.
"Really disappointing" star star_border star_border star_border star_border Watched the video and went all way to Bath to purchase this fryer. After unpacking I had an awful lot of trouble fixing the handle, then realised it just sticks out in the way instead of folding down after cooking, then the lid does not fit properly. I cut thin chips but they cooked on the outside but not right through. Cant get back to Bath so do not know what to do. Thirty years of buying fryers this is the worst. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. I'm sorry that you'd been disappointed with the fryer and glad I was able to put things right for you.
"Lakeland Compact Deep Fat Fryer." star star star_border star_border star_border Very neat and convenient fryer if only it would work. My first one was a little cool at the 130 degree setting (about 5 degrees) but I could live with that. However at the 200 degree end, necessary for crisping up chips, the oil couldn't be heated above 180 degrees so I returned the fryer to Lakeland for a replacement on the assumption that it had a faulty thermostat. When the second one arrived I immediately tested it against a certified thermometer only to discover that this one was even cooler at the 130 degree end and couldn't even reach 175 degrees at the hot end. No use at all. support_agent A note from the team We're sorry to hear the compact fryer has not performed well. Our buying team have tested this product and at 200 degrees (max) using the infared thermometer they achieved 192.8 degrees and just 189.5 degrees with a probe. We'll continue to test and thank you for discussing this with us today - we hope the alternative fryer you chose works well.
"Terrible" star star_border star_border star_border star_border Flawed, esp when compared to other makes that look the same. The handle clips in an falls off when you try to serve the food, often resulting in chips and a hot pan falling on the floor/side. The chip pan also fits on the side and does not provide much depth in the oil. Sadly the fryer is not much use and very disappointing for a lakeland product. I have tried to like it but wish i have gone for a rival product. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry the fryer hasn't worked as expected.
