"brilliant"
I didn't believe this would cook without giving off lots of steam (after 30 years of another brand of pressure cooker), but it really does. Quite expensive but worth every penny.

Safe, fast healthy and versatile, the pressure cooking revolution starts here!

I debated for a long time about investing so much money in one item, but I am so glad I did. It is heavy but the D-handle helps when it needs to be moved. It's wonderful to use for beans and such, which traditionally need a long soak and then long cooking. Unsoaked beans can be cooked perfectly in under 20 minutes. The lovely integrated cooking dial broke fairly quickly, so it doesn't look quite as good now. Would be nice to be able to get replacement sealing ring through Lakeland and to have an accurate image ~ you can't fill the pressure cooker to the rim!
Thanks for the review on the pressure cooker. I'm pleased to say that spare seals are available from Khun Rikon tel. No is 01902 458410 or www.kuhnrikon.co.uk/spares.asp PLEASE NOTE - The image on the website is only to show what can be cooked in it not how full it can be.
I bought this Kuhn Rikon because I wanted to be able to cook dried pulses more quickly (normally they have to be soaked overnight and then simmered for ages till soft). Now they can be done in about half an hour from start to finish. It also makes fantastic stock and turns cheaper cuts of meat to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. Maximises the taste of everything and saves time and money!!
I've always been a bit nervous of pressure cookers, all the hissing and the one I was using until recently gave off lots of steam, water running down my kitchen tiles with all the condensation. Not so with this beauty! No hissing, no steamy tiles, cooked to perfection in the minimum amount of time. It costs a bit more but I think it's worth it. No fiddly weights to deal with either. I just love it!!! Only improvement would be to have one of those baskets provided for cooking your veg on top. Will have to buy separately.
I'm glad that the pressure cooker has been such a success. I'll be sure to pass your suggestion on.
With gas/electricity bills rising and our love of slow cooked meals, we decided to resurrect our old Prestige pressure cooker. However, this wasn't successful so we took the plunge and bought this model from Lakeland. We are very pleased with our purchase. It's very easy to use (I was always scared of the Prestige!), a little bit of trial and error on timings required but once mastered, everything cooks to perfection. No escaping steam, no noise and good-looking to boot, although a bit pricey, we're very pleased overall.
