Masterclass® Meat Thermometer

I bought one of these to go with my new Cobb (some time ago) as I was unsure about the 2 hour chicken recipes etc. This just helps me make sure anything I BBQ is cooked through. I didn't want an expensive one as I was sure I would not need to use it that often but to be fair it does still get taken out of the cupboard and used every once in a while and it still works like it did when new.

I Have had mine for years and it works brilliantly and is still as new. I find if you clean the probe with a soapy cloth it stays in great condition. I wonder from some reviews whether they may be putting the probe in the oven?

This product does what it says- it works best on large roasting joints- (I used it on a small piece of fillet steak but there wasn't enough of the probe in the beef to give an accurate reading). It provides a 'second opinion' as a back up to using your timer as normal. A little, light scrub with a pot scourer should keep the glass clean.

To be honest after a couple of weeks of use they stain on the front so badly with the heat you cannot read them. Not great!

I purchased 2 of these at Christmas and used mine for a 3-rib of beef. By the time my allocated cooking time had finished, the needle was still just below the bottom section of the 1st screen. I chose to ignore the thermometer and took the rib out. This was fortunate as it would have been overdone. My son used his on a leg of lamb which ended up well done rather than medium rare. Surely this must have been tested before reaching the market. Very disappointing.
