"Really Disappointed"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I had wanted to purchase this cake mould since last years Children in Need, but I ended up very disappointed. The recipe on the back resulted in a terribly greasy cake. It was uncooked in the middle and overcooked on the outside. By the time I had managed to get the whole cake cooked, it had taken at least double the cooking time specified on the box. The cake itself tasted unpleasant and very greasy. Actually had to try and blot off the grease coming from the finished cake. Not impressed with a sweaty, tasteless Pudsey.

"Easy to use - good results"

Bought this predictably to make a cake for Children in Need. The mould is strong and as long as you grease it the cake slips right out. However, the recipe on the back is not to be followed. I found it made too much cake and therefore burnt the edges without cooking the middle. I opted to use my normal cake recipe and make two thinner layers and sandwiched them together as per a victoria sponge before royal icing the whole thing. Good, long lasting product!

Thanks for this feedback. Our buying team have re-tested the recipe on the packaging and advise that the time of baking will be 1hr 20mins and for fan assisted ovens the temperature should be reduced to 150ºC. To protect while cooking cover towards end of baking time with foil or double layer of greaseproof paper.

"Really disappointed!!!"

I am really disappointed as I have now tried cooking 4 cakes with the instructions given for the mix and each time it's burnt on the bottom. The most annoying thing is the cost of the ingredients used. Wish I bought the Pudsey cookie cutters instead!

Thanks for your review. For fan-assisted ovens please turn the temperature down to 150ºC and wrap the bottom of the pan with foil to prevent burning. We'll be in touch to put things right for you.

"3rd Time Lucky!!!"

As in the title I think it says it all! Don't follow the recipe on the box! I was really disappointed with the mold, my first attempt, came out and looked fantastic, but when I came to slice the cake it looked all conjealed, it was cooked, but looked and tasted disgusting!!...2nd attempt the same outcome!!...3rd attempt, halve all the ingredients, so 4 egg mix, 2 tsp baking powder, 2 tsp of Vanilla extract, I didn't put it on a baking tray, went direct onto oven shelf at 180...30-35 min I have a Fan Assisted oven, it has turned out like all my other cakes!! Make a second one the same way!
