"Mediocre results..."

star star star star_border star_border

I have been using the pasta machine with basic tagliatelle attachment for a while with great results. Today I decided to have a go with the ravioli attachment now that I felt sufficiently experienced with working with the pasta. There's not much in the way of instruction with this attachment and I resorted to the internet to try and find a helpful video. Once I realised what to do it actually worked very smoothly, filling the pockets and turning out the ravioli below. However, I wasn't altogether happy with the results. Firstly it didn't cut well through the pasta so was fiddly to remove cuttings and sometimes the filling leaked out. I'm aware that there are ideals in thickness and flouriness etc of the pasta sheet for cutting but this was not explained for the ravioli attachment and I didn't know how to improve the results. The main issue I had overall was how little filling went in each pocket, I used hardly any of the spinach cheese filling I had made and resorted to serving it on the side of the pasta. They were nearly flat, not like in the picture, I made a very fine mixture, but again no instructions on how to get the best out of this product. I'm sure I can do better with this machine but I don't know where to start! Maybe Lakeland could do an instructional video?

"Waste of Time"

This review is for an older version of this product

I am an experienced pasta maker (from an Italian family!) and was given the pasta machine and attachment for Christmas. The pasta machine itself fine, if a little flimsy, however, after wasting a lot of time, effort and ingredients I have given up the ravioli maker. Like others, I have ended up with a mangled mess despite experimenting thickness/dryness of the pasta. It neither seals, fills or cuts properly. Also, lack of any kind of instruction leaflet leave you with no guide to trouble shooting (some recipe ideas for different fillings would be nice too!). Will be returning this one, sadly.

"Dreadful"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I am a fairly competent pasta maker and have been using pasta machines for some considerable time now. The ravioli maker was bought for my birthday. So what's wrong with it you ask? First and foremost there is little or no instructions except a few lines on the side of the box. The pasta in the review picture is closer to the mark than the one on the box. What filling that is taken up is very little. The machine does not cut the ravioli no mater what the thickness. Too thick and it simply clogs up the machine. Too thin and the pasta is not cut. I will most definitely be returning this item.

"should have believed the other reviewers!"

Despite reading all the other reviews, I did not believe lakeland wold still be selling a product that didn't work. We have used a pasta maker before and successfully make tagliatelle and lasagne so I thought we would give the ravioli maker a go Like the other reviewers we failed to get any usable ravioli out of it. The instructions are limited, but we tried varying thickness of pasta and size of filling to no avail. In the end we resorted to making thin lasagne sheets in the pasta maker and manually making ravioli with a pastry cutter. Waste of time and money!

"Ravioli maker rubbish"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I have tried 4 times with different textures of pasta without success, no matter what filling is, it still gets stuck around the rollers. Lakeland, if there are some secrets to this, please publish on the review site, all I see is that you will be in touch with everyone!? why not post a few tips to assist people? I live in Spain and of course cannot return the machine to a store so I am stuck with it. Would love to know what the secrets are...

Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry that your ravioli is sticking to the rollers and will be in touch shortly. Handy Tips:The dough should be moist, not too dry: -Flour a work surface and the rollers of the pasta machine. Flatten out the chilled pasta dough into a rectangle. -Set the rollers to their widest setting. Roll the pasta through the rollers. -Narrow the rollers by changing the machine setting by one notch, then pass the rolled pasta through the rollers again. Dust the rolled pasta with flour. -Repeat the process until the pasta sheets are as thin as the recipe requires, or until they've been passed through the narrowest setting on the machine.
