We had one stubborn candle that didn't want to light but used an already lit candle (which didn't drip as i expected it to). We didn't leave them for the full 8 minutes as we wanted to eat the cake but they did burn for 3-4 minutes for photos to be taken.

By the time we had lit them all, the ones that were lit first were just normal flame colour. We had 13 to light.
