Ribbon Microplane Gourmet Grater

Grates hard cheese with ease, originally just got for parmesan but use it for cheddar too. Grating garlic and ginger is a breeze too. My old box grater is now redundant!! The non-slip bar at the bottom holds it firm. It's easy to clean and comes with protective cover for when not in use. A little too coarse for zesting citrus fruit so will be purchasing the fine grater too.

This is the best grater I've had (and I have got through quite a few). It doesn't slip, is easy to clean and is lovely and sharp. I grate everything from carrot to cheese to cabbage with it and it works a treat.

I bought one of these mainly because it was recommended in the video for making rosti which I make a lot. I didn't like the result. The grated potato was too fine and when wrung out it stuck together in a large clump. I managed to break it up into smaller lumps but was unable to spread it in evenly over the pan. When cooked all the 'strands' had merged and it looked more like fried mashed potato. So it's back to my old grater for rosti in the future. This particular grater is really good for other things but in my opinion it shouldn't be recommended for making rosti.

I have to admit I've had my ribbon Microplane grater for ages, but it gave up the ghost recently when the plastic round the edge cracked, leaving a dent in the steel. It's a shame - it is now useless. I'm reordering as the new design seems planned to avoid this happening again.

disappointed that my ribbon grater has cracked at the sides in several places so it bends and can no longer be used. Didn't use this as much as my coarse grater but it was handy...don't think an expensive grater like this should break...
