"Fantastic book!!"

star star star star star

Normally a cookbook is a bit of a disappointment all sounds good in theory, you set all sorts of goals and then a year later the book is still gathering dust having only used perhaps 2 recipes. Not this book! It has some great recipes, it was 10 times the size I expected for the price and represents excellent value. So far have done about 6 of the chutneys etc and the corn relish is superb. My only negative is that so many recipes specify malt vinegar and this is often far too strong and you are left with little taste of the great ingredients and the house smells like a chip shop. Do not be afraid to experiment - use white wine vinegar or cider instead of malt and you will still get a great pickle.Do not hesitate it is worth the money.

"Love this book"

"Fab book"

The first book I now always reach for!!Been making jams and pickles for many years, but the variety of ingredients in this book makes it an automatic choice for me.Cant recommend it highly enough, huge well done to Lakeland for stocking it.

"A great launching platform"

I already had an extract of this book, just dealing with the 'pickles' section, and I was delighted when I picked up, and then purchased, the full book in the Chichester store. After reading some of the earlier comments I must say that the best part of this book is the detail that it gives to techniques rather than endless lists of recipes. Once you have the basic techniques, using commercially available fruits and vegetables, you can then modify the recipe to take advantage of locally sourced, often wild, fruits. Experiment with what is local to your area and what is pleasing to your palate. Try a jelly made from Sloes for an accompaniment to your Christmas turkey or goose. Perhaps Lakeland will consider a Customers' Recipe Page on their web site?My only criticism of the book is that it is paperback and not hardback.
