Freezer Shield

Bought this recently as we have a built in fridge freezer which we're defrosting at the moment. Just opened the box of Freezer Shield and as the bottom of our freezer compartment is "ridged" we decided it would be too difficult to try and make it stick. Having re-read the box it doesn't clearly state that it's meant for small freezer compartments within larder style fridges. Disappointing.

Bought this in a store last weekend and fitted it yesterday, so I can't comment on how well it works. But on opening the box, I was surprised and disappointed by how small it is. It is only 10" wide in a box that is 14" long, and hence it covers only 2/3 of the bottom of our freezer. OK, yes it does give the size in the small print on the box, but one doesn't expect to check the size specified against the size of the box. In the store, I had looked at the box and thought "bit small, but probably big enough". In fact our freezer floor is 15" deep, so 14" would have been adequate, but not 10"!

I have bought and used one of these, and it is great! As other reviewers have said, it is for the freezer compartment of a fridge, rather than an entire freezer. It has prevented build-up for me --- I have 2 shelves in my compartment and I have it on one of them and not the other, and there is a very noticible difference. I am about to buy another!

This sounded an ideal product for my"bottom of fridge-freezer problem",but having followed the instructions to the letter, within days ice had built up on top of, but also underneath,the shield. I think part of the problem is that the bottom of my freezer has quite distinct ridges as part of the design and,although I tried to tuck the shield in to the ridges it was almost impossible to do so.There was no "not suitable for" warning on the box.It was just about possible to clean the ice from on top of the (now ridged) shield, but quite impossible to remove ice from underneath.

This is a real gem. I only have a small ice box in my fridge, but it ices up very, very quickly and I used to have to scrape out the ice every week. After fitting the mat, I've found that the ice does not build up so frequently and the added bonus is that the bottom of the freezer just needs a wipe over to remove the ice. Obviously, the ice still builds up overhead, but it does much the task of defrosting so much quicker and easier. Reasonably priced too.
