I've used this for cakes for a while now and have just ordered two more to last for the rest of my life! Also excellent for making sandwiches - both buttering and filling. Cuts the time and effort down significantly.
Tried this for the first time today.... And am now wondering how I ever managed without it. What a great little tool for decorating cakes with. This will no doubt become one of the most used utensils in the drawer. If you haven't got one and you enjoy baking, BUY ONE!!! It is well worth the money!!
I have just finished icing my 82 year old father's birthday cake, chocolate of course, with yummy chocolate buttercream icing! I can only use one hand, and the angle of the spatula was just right for spreading both the middle, top and sides of the cake. The shaped thumb rest is also effective in controlling the pressure of your hand whilst pressing down to spread. I make a lot of cakes, always with buttercream icing as its easier, and I'm sure this spatula will prove very useful in making light work of the icing!
I am so glad I bought this little tool. before I had been using my large flat spatula, which is about 10" long - too long! used it to spread the filling on my friends birthday cake and it was so much easier, also used it to smooth the icing when I couldn't find my smoothers.v handy tool, wouldn't be without it now for my cake decorating!
