Stainless Steel Upright Asparagus Steamer Kettle 2.8L

Product number: 11652

Cooking asparagus can be tricky as the stalks take longer than the tender tips, but we'll let you in on a secret... steaming the asparagus upright makes it much easier to get it just right, and retain the delicate taste. Our dedicated stainless steel Asparagus Steamer is perfectly proportioned for the job, and a no-fuss way to cook corn on the cob too.

With a steamer rack to hold the asparagus, a vented glass lid to prevent fogging and a convenient carry handle. For best results, fill the steamer up to half full with water so the thickest parts of the stems are covered, bring to the boil on the hob then stand the asparagus upright in the rack with the tips to the top and the lid on. This ensures the delicate tips are steamed while the tough bottom is boiled. Then cook until tender.

Suitable for all hobs (including Induction).

"Fabulous Invention!"

I love my asparagus kettle! No more soggy asparagus, simple to use, asparagus cooked in no time. Just cover bottom of asparagus with an inch or two of water and the asparagus simply steams. Also useful for corn and for blanching vegetables using the basket.

"jam maker"

Yes, no instructions as to how much water should be put in the kettle. There could be a mark put in? The other point is that the handle on the lid got hot, which makes it difficult to lift.

Thanks for placing your review. We would recommend covering the thickest part of the stems of asparagus in water and cook until tender. The steam produced cooks the more delicate tips of the asparagus at the same time. You would need to judge the amount of water from the length of the asparagus

"A little confused about how to use it ??"

star star star_border star_border star_border

My asparagus kettle was received as a Christmas present. I have not used it yet but it looks great. However, I was surprised and concerned that there was no instruction leaflet or guidance printed on the box about how to use it. I have subsequently learnt that the kettle should be filled with only 2" of water but as this was not described I could easily have over-filled the kettle. A lack of user instruction seems unusual for a Lakeland product and in this instance I feel that lack of any user information could have been potentially dangerous.
