The Cake Train

Product number: 11521

"The train now standing at platform Lakeland is ready to depart, calling at your kitchen, your oven, and last stop, your party. All aboard!"

Who could resist one of the miniature train-shaped cakes baked in our exclusive tin? It's the stuff that magical memories are made of, and far too jolly to save just for birthdays.

Intricately cast from aluminium, it creates an engine and 8 carriages with crisp outlines all ready for decorating. For the very best results, coat with Cake Release or grease with butter, then dust with flour.

Takes a 4-egg sponge mix – recipe incl. Can also be filled with jelly or blancmange.

"A real hit at nursery!"

star star star star star

I've had my eye on this tin for a while, and when the sale coincided with the theme at my daughter's nursery being Trains I just had to have it. I also got some Cake Release, and it worked amazingly! The cake has been a real hit - lots of comments about how good it looked and tasted. Why aren't Lakeland going to stock it any more? Many of the Mum's at nursery have asked where I got it....

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry that you're disappointed that we've discontinued this tin but we will look at other designs for the future.

"Nordicware Cake Tins"

star star star star star

With reference to the train pan sticking. I have a collection of these baking pans & I have recently bought the cookery book direct from the company itself. They specifically state not to use cake release with lecithin in as after a few uses a coating will build up & cause it to stick . The Lakeland one does contain this. It also says on the instructions for the tin to use white fat & flour and doesn't mention cake release. This is really disappointing as the cake release spray works so well. Luckily I've not spoiled my pans as I've only used it twice but be warned!

Thank you for your valuable comments, I have passed them on to our buyers to investigate who obtained the following advice from the manufacturer: If you would like to use Cake Release the Cake Train needs to be thoroughly cleaned after each use to prevent cake release build-up.

"Fantastic"

Just like to say the cake train tin is fantastic it turned out just as you promised used cake release to grease. Had great fun decorating it, my grandson was four on his birthday and he was delighted.

"Easy to use"

I have used this cake tin a few times now and I'm new to baking so was dubious about whether the trains would come out of the tin. I bought the cake release as recommended and it worked perfectly. I may have used too much release as it literally slid out of the tin. I'm very pleased with it.
