With reference to the train pan sticking. I have a collection of these baking pans & I have recently bought the cookery book direct from the company itself. They specifically state not to use cake release with lecithin in as after a few uses a coating will build up & cause it to stick . The Lakeland one does contain this. It also says on the instructions for the tin to use white fat & flour and doesn't mention cake release. This is really disappointing as the cake release spray works so well. Luckily I've not spoiled my pans as I've only used it twice but be warned!
Thank you for your valuable comments, I have passed them on to our buyers to investigate who obtained the following advice from the manufacturer: If you would like to use Cake Release the Cake Train needs to be thoroughly cleaned after each use to prevent cake release build-up.
Great cake tin - turned out perfectly (with the cake release!) The only thing I would say is the instructions say to fill the moulds half way as the mix will rise... I would ignore that and fill all the way to the top. My first attempt ended up with half trains with a bumpy bottom!!! The second was perfect I just cut off the extra cake with a knife before turning out onto the cooling rack. Will use again and again. Just don't pay too much attention to the instructions!!!!! :o)
My daughter used the tin last night to make a cake for my grandson's birthday tomorrow. She used the recipe on the instructions, greased the tin with Cake Release and filled the little compartments right up. We left the cake to cool for about 20 minutes and using a very sharp bread knife carefully cut off the excess - needless to say the excess bits were delicious and and didn't hang around for long.Looking forward to decorating the train tonight.
This is brilliant and so easy - especially if you use the Cake Release from Lakeland. I made this for my son's first birthday and my husband and I had a great time decorating the engine and carriages with icing and confectionery. The family all loved the colourful little train all lit up with candles. I borrowed the train cake tin from my sister but am now about to buy one of my own in a different design so that I've got one to lend too. Highly recommended and so solid it will last for years.
