My Kitchen Knife Block Set

The chef's knife itself is worth the money. Bought for child to go to Uni, kept it myself.

I bought this set last Christmas and find four of the knives absolutely fine but the carving knife is hopeless. I am buying a knife sharpener in the hope that it will improve the performance of the carving knife. I obviously should have taken the set back to the shop but instead resorted to using an old carving knife.

I have had these knives for a couple of years now, and they are extremely poor performance. So I am looking for a new set. Everything takes me twice as long to prepare because they are constantly blunt. I even bought a knife sharpener from Lakeland in desperation, and even then there was little improvement. Alas the bluntness was back after one use. The blade quality is so weak, that a few months ago the carving knife just snapped in half like slate, when it fell - a knife I have only used on perhaps two occasions. This was my second set because the first arrived with the tip of one of the blades snapped off. So really they are of such dreadful quality (the worst I've ever used). Very surprised to see them still in the catalogue.
