Laucke Special White Gluten and Dairy Free Bread Mix 2 x 500g
Product number: 10437
Beloved by Lakeland customers, Laucke’s Gluten Free Special White Bread Mixes are utterly brilliant for anyone who has to cut gluten and dairy products out of their diet. Each of the sachets makes one standard, oven-baked 750g loaf or you can create flat-breads, pizza bases, wraps, rolls – we’ve even heard from customers who like to prove it for longer to get a crumpet-like consistency… The baking world is your oyster once more.
Tried and tested, this delicious white bread tastes just as bread really should – ideal if you’re a late-diagnosed coeliac and miss ‘real’ bread – and because it’s been created as a hand-made mix, it’s really easy to adapt with extra ingredients it you like to add sun-dried tomatoes, olives or a little extra salt to suit your taste.
Tasting just like bread should, the loaves stay fresh for days.
Please note: because of the lack of gluten, the mix won’t make a classic bread dough, it looks more like a batter – which is why it’s not recommended for use in bread machines – but fans tell us the results are definitely worth waiting for.

I’m so glad I found this flour for baking the texture isperfect
excellent product very easy to make and should be more available in store as well as online. so much better than supermarket bread.
I read the reviews, unfortunately I went with those. I'm not a bad cook, but this inedible lump is possibly the worst disaster in my entire culinary experience (I'm 70). I was first put off by the smell, but as this had already been mentioned in previous, positive, reviews I continued. I measured everything exactly. What emerged was a palid lump that even after an additional 10 minutes on the advised cooking time was still not completely cooked. Toasted or not, it leaves an unpleasant after taste that lingers. I am reluctant to attempt a cake with the remaining packet.
Sorry you found this. We've emailed to help.
I have made this a few times now. I agree that the smell when being mixed is not pleasant however I stuck with it. It doesn't rise as a normal loaf as this mix does not contain yeast- I added some yeast to one mix and got more rise as I have coeliac but no yeast problem. You do need to mix it as long as the instruction says as this ensures it fluffs up bigger as a batter it seems. I took it out of the tin at the end stage to brown it all over more and it had a better crispy crust. Makes excellent crunchy toast, much better than other gf breads.
Make bread at home & consider myself a good baker, so when our little girl showed signs of gastric irritation we decided to try a gluten free diet & wanted some GF bread for her (and us) to try. I went through the reviews and decided to try as it sounded good - weren't we disappointed, it does not, as some reviews, taste like real bread. All we could taste was potato starch & tapioca. The batter did not smell pleasant and the loaf was dense/stodgy & tasted like a badly made pancake. It did not brown & looked pale & anaemic. Worst product ever bought from Lakeland, will not purchase again
Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that you've been disappointed with this bread mix and we'll be in touch shortly to help.
