A message from Julie, the store manager: If you're travelling to Lakeland in Ipswich for a specific product, please telephone us beforehand on 01473 214144 to check availability.
Our store is in the Grade 1 listed Ancient House, one of the oldest buildings in Ipswich, looked after by English Heritage. Originally a merchant's house, the first part of the building dates back to the 15th Century. It's said that King Charles II hid from his enemies in the Attic Room after the Battle of Worcester. For a more detailed history of the building, the local Tourist Information group runs tours of the town centre which include a more detailed history of our building.
Because of the nature of the Ancient House we have many rooms linked by stairs, which unfortunately doesn't make it easy for pushchair and wheelchair access. However our friendly staff are always willing to be of assistance.
There are 3 'park & ride' services coming into the town centre - they're the easiest and cheapest way to get into Ipswich. They're situated on the outskirts at the following sites: Bury Road off the A14 - West Ipswich (driving towards Felixstowe); London Road at the A12-A14 - Central Ipswich (driving from A12 London); Martlesham Heath - East Ipswich A12 (coming from Lowestoft).
There's a short stay car park in the Buttermarket Shopping Centre which is close to the back of the store, and is the closest car park for collecting large or heavy purchases.
Please note All enquiries, mail orders and catalogue requests are handled by our friendly and knowledgeable staff at our Windermere headquarters. They're available to help you on 015394 88100.
