Green tomato chutney

Makes approximately 8 x 1lb jars


  • 10 medium chillies
  • 15g fresh ginger
  • 250g currants
  • 625g onions, chopped
  • 2kg green tomatoes, diced
  • 500g apples, chopped
  • 500g sugar
  • 570ml vinegar
  • 2tsp sea salt
  • pepper to taste


  1. Tie the chillies and ginger in a muslin square, then place in a large preserving pan with the other ingredients.
  2. Stir well and bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer until mixture is reduced to a thick chutney.
  3. Remove the muslin parcel, pour into warm jars, and top with our Twist-Off Lids.
