Microplane® Gourmet Graters

Hand-held stainless steel graters with a non-slip bar for balancing on the table. Soft-grip handle.

Here at Lakeland we firmly believe ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, but sometimes a little fine-tuning does no harm. These new Gourmet Graters retain the clog-resistant, stainless steel blade of previous Microplane graters, but with the addition of an angled, non-slip bar at the ‘table end’. A small change possibly, though combined with the improved soft-grip handle, the net result is better leverage and a firmer hold on proceedings. As we said, a little fine-tuning...

2 stars out of 5 Cracking of Microplane Graters

by Shirley Sherriffs

I am so surprised at how many of these graters have this cracking problem. Thought it was just my one. Mine too has many cracks all around the plastic frame and I have to hold it with a tea towel to be able to use it safely. They are not a cheap product and I would have expected it to last more than 18 months. I prefer stable reliability to fancy bits and thats why I bought it. I have put mine in the dishwasher, does that effect the plastic. I also put many many other products in the dishwasher with no probs.

2 stars out of 5 Fixed one problem but....

by Miss Julia Plant

I bought my 'new, improved' microplane fine grater to replace my beloved plastic framed one that is cracking up as everyones has. While the whole grater is now much sturdier there seems to have been some change made to the angle of the blades which now bite deeper into the fruit [or whatever] you are grating, this means you have to put much more effort into grating. Instead of the glide of the old grater, that meant you could get the zest off the squishiest of tangerines no problem, you now have to hold and the fruit very firmly indeed and I have once managed to put a thumb through the fruit in question. I use the new one on cheese and hard foods but return to the remains of my old one for fruit. All in all I'm rather disappointed, I expected close to perfection as the flaw with the older model had been addressed and got something that doesn't perform it's basic function as well as its predessesor.

5 stars out of 5 They're grate!!!

I would highly recommend microplane graters, they take the strain out of grating, especially parmesan...it's effortless. I have all three graters but, sadly, the middle (and most used) has finally given up the ghost and the plastic has snapped.....I feel quite lost without it...so have just treated myself and ordered a new one!! Thanks Lakeland!
