There's nothing lovelier on a hot summer day than lighting the barbecue and getting together with family and friends for a flame-grilled feast! Food tastes better outside and on the following pages you'll find all the 'ingredients' for a summer of alfresco dining.

what you'll need
  • 2 large red onions
  • 500g rump steak, sliced thinly
  • 60ml teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 2 spring onions, sliced finely
what to do
  • 1. Cut each onion into 12 wedges and thread onto 6 skewers with the beef.
  • 2. Combine sauce, paste, garlic and sugar then brush mixture over skewers. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  • 3. Cook under a grill or on a barbecue until browned all over and cooked to preference.
  • 4. Serve sprinkled with spring onion.
