A right Royal Tradition
Everyone is looking forward to the long bank holiday weekend and, for many, that means making the most of the extra time off with a get-together to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
Street parties have long been a British tradition for such events, but however you choose to mark the occasion – maybe a picnic in the park, a grand afternoon tea or even a back garden barbecue – we've got tons of great ideas to ensure everyone has a fantastic time.
Planning your street party…
Now's the time to get your menu in mind, start a shopping list – and though we hope for dazzling sunshine – come up with a wet weather contingency plan, just in case.
On the day, ask everyone to bring a plate of food and muck in with the setting up and you'll be ready to party quicker than you can say 'trestle table'! Why not make our checklist your starting point?

Checklist
- Ring your local council to check your plans.
- Plan your food and make ahead – see our freezer storage ideas.
- Dust off the trestle tables and check you have enough chairs.
- Stock up on napkins, party-proof 'glassware', cake stands and table covers.
- Think about garden games to keep everyone entertained.
- Think about cool bags and ice packs for drinks.
- Check you've got bin liners under the sink for clearing up.
Party perfect recipes…
A good spread is the best part of any celebration, and whether you're looking forward to a big street party or a cosy barbecue, why not treat your guests with our delicious crowd pleasers.
