Cuisinart® Soup Maker

Electric soup maker which chops, boils, simmers & blends. Can also be used as a regular blender. Stainless steel blade.
Our Kitchenware Team see hundreds of products before selecting, and it takes a lot to impress them, so when we saw how excited Philippa, our Buyer was, we knew she’d found a real gem... The impressive new Soup Maker from Cuisinart literally makes your soup from start to finish; all you have to worry about is chopping the veg and chucking it in! Cutting out the middle ‘pan’, it gets really hot so you can soften your onions and brown your veg nicely before you pour the stock in. Then, it’ll bubble away gently as it cooks, and all that’s left to do is flick a switch to blend to your desired consistency.
Making a healthy food even quicker and more convenient, with no pan to wash up and no messy transferring from pan to blender, it’s certainly got the Lakeland seal of approval.

Souperlicious
by Antoinette Khodabandeh
I read a couple of very negative reviews and even someone who put the jug in the dishwasher (mine came with a notice saying NOT to put it in the dishwasher but to wash it by hand. However I washed it with ONE drop of washing up liquid and filled it 1/3 full of water (heated on high setting) then pulsed a couple of times. I then emptied and rinsed and repeated as I had made potato and leek soup and the jug was left for around an hour while we ate the soup and had a meal. I had no problems with it frothing over or running down and fusing anything (may I suggest it was overfilled) I too have trouble with my grip as I have MS and yes it is heavier than I would like (I just took a little more care moving the jug but it remains in the stand except for setting it up then rinsing in the end.
Now to the actual use, I have made soups for years and have to say although this is expensive, and as I perhaps would not have treated myself was delighted to receive it as a gift. It really does all it says and there is no reason why you can't use the liquidiser unit instead of the pulse if you wish - just remember when it is heating you can't pulse or liquidise at the same time.
I enjoyed using it with only one item to wash (well rinse) I did notice that one person said the glass unscrews and no matter how I tried mine wouldn't budge.
Heating was good and I had no burning but then I added the stock quite early on and didn't leave the leeks or onions or garlic cooking too long.
I think this is a really good unit and certainly makes making good wholesome soup in around 30 mins that tastes wonderful and is full of goodness. I was also interested to read that eating soup is a great way to loose weight! A secret bonus
Would I recommend this - ABSOLUTELY YES I WOULD.

Perfect !

Well what can I say. The title sums it all up. My partner bought this for me for xmas, after a few hints :)
This soup maker is fantastic. I make soup batches for work and it all keeps great. For me, the best thing is the simplicity of it all. Just throw everything in and let it do its thing :)
I never follow recipes, all the recipe books I have looked at are all too fancy. Lakeland can you please find a good old grandma's soup recipe book ? Ya know, the good old tomato, chicken and of course vegetable. (without all the herbs and posh touches ) just like grandma used to make.
For now, I just buy a ton of vegetable of all types, mix and match them to create different flavours, cook , mix, and eat :)
A few tips for using the soup maker would be..
Don't fill above the 1400 ml mark for soup.
The stir function works great if not over filled.
The simmer function works well, especially if you stir a few times throughout cooking, it breaks up the larger pieces of veg slightly, speeding up cooking.
Washing the jug.....the glass jug screws of its base easily so you can clean the blades. I dry on a radiator for 10 mins then pack kitchen roll over the blades before storing. (keeps it dry and safe from tiny fingers).
The ease of use and with only one thing to wash up after, makes this the ultimate kitchen accessory. I would also recommend this for anyone who struggles to chop vegetables, or lift heavy pans, as I do.
Thank you cuisinart and of course Lakeland :)

Great concept...BUT.....
by Mrs Leo Phillips
First impressions - brilliant machine, excellent recipes (though unfortunate choice of print colour for some of the recipes). I love it and have made loads of soup with it, and my husband, after initially dismissing it as yet another expensive gadget, now approves of it. However, as other people have found, it does have problems. (1) The first time I cleaned it, following their instructions, the water and washing up liquid mixture foamed over the top, trickled into the inner workings of the base via the 3 connecting prongs, and tripped out our socket circuit. (2) If I do not hold a dishcloth under the lip of the jug, bits of soup trickle down the front of the glass jar and get lodged between the glass and the black base. (3) The supposedly non-stick heated base is covered with a layer of black burned on food. I think that this is because the temperature is too hot even on simmer.
(4) I note that the instruction book suggests putting the jar unit in a dishwasher upside down - whoever wrote this either has a tiny 2 person dishwasher or lacks knowledge of dishwasher technology - our dishwasher has 2 water sprayers, so the electrics in the base would be drenched by the top one. I did not try this!! (5) Too many strong overheated electrics smells for too long, particularly after cleaning using the Blend function. SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS: (1 & 2) Have a seal between the glass and jar base so that water and soup cannot trickle down into the jars base innards. If the manufacturers do not want to put on a permanent seal, what about a stretchy sealing ring made with a triangular cross-section with a silicone outer layer (make the whole sealing ring out of silicone, but with thin bits at the sides to cling and seal) which would cling to the glass and base, so that any drips, overflows etc would trickle over it and not get into the works. May be better to have these in packs of 3 so that they could be replaced from time to time to maintain a good seal. (3) Have a lower heat setting for the simmer setting, and lengthen the "on" parts of the simmerstat settings. If it is only possible to have 1 heat level, a lower one would still be better, as I have noticed that the heat level on "boil" is still a bit fierce - it boils ferociously for a short time then sits still for quite a long time - set the heat level so that it boils sensibly for a longer time, and has a shorter "off" time. (5) This may sort itself out if the product is satisfactorily redesigned. I feel that the designers should get back to the drawing board, then replace all the ones that they have sold when they have got it right - but don't give up and withdraw it - the idea is fantastic. Ratings: 5 stars for concept, black mark for poor design, so average = 2 stars. Final comment - I still love it, warts and all!!!
