Sorry but mine has been binned
by Mrs West
My husband bought this for me when we went to the Lakes last September.
I was laid up in the hotel and he found the Lakeland store and thought this was a clever gadget.
Once back home I tried it, well!! I did'nt realise I knew some of the swear words that I uttered while trying to get the thing ready to use (battery cover etc).
Then it got stuck while curving around the jar so I had to manually crank it with a blunt knife and did myself more mischief trying to stop it when it did start.
Tried it again a few weeks later and it just took off again and I sprained my wrist again.
Couldn't get rid quick enough ,it felt like it had a mind of it's own.

It's always disappointing to hear that one of our products has not been up to our usual standards. I'll be in touch about the faulty can opener, please accept my apologies.
I just cant get this thing to open a jar
by Mrs Parry
I really cant see why everyone is raving over this item, I bought it on my last order from lakeland and have never managed to get it to open a jar at all have tried every concievable size but without success. It just jumps off the jar lid every time and doesnt stop until we remove the batteries, Had my husband not accidentally thrown away the packaging it would have been returned as another white elephant purchase. I still have to wait for my husband to be home to get jars opened. I am now looking out for another one of the manual rubber Jar openers which this one replaced.

Strugglng through to success
by Mrs Larkin
I battled with the blister pack, opened the battery compartment, and couldn't shut it. Sometimes it even started turning in my hands as I struggled on. I am very grateful to Lakeland for their prompt phone call in reply to my desperate email. At least this was in time to prevent me pulling the lid off which I had decided was probably the thing to do (it isn't), and at least I now knew what I was supposed to do. I still couldn't close it though. Nor could various neighbours who tried to help. I had just decided that I would throw it quietly away and pretend it had never existed when my son-in-law came and set to work on it. He does a lot of sailing and is very strong. Even so, he was muttering about the irony of a utensil intended to help the weak being too difficult for strong men to set up. Now though, the battery cover is closed, it works properly and I love it. No more whimpering because I can't get at the milk for my morning coffee. It is definitely five stars for function but for such a basic design weakness, one. Maybe I'll give it four. If anyone has similar problems with it, I'd say head straight off to the local gym where someone will be able to help. To Culinare however, really! Maybe you could forestall much misery by getting teams of old ladies with weak fingers to test things before they are launched onto the market.
