Am i doing something wrong?

Having just read the positive reviews, I am starting to think I am doing something wrong.I have tried a variety of recipes and find that even on high it does not cook the meal as well as a conventional oven. I was hoping that it would help with a busy life, but unfortunately this has not been the case, as so is back in the cupboard.

Slow cooker

I purchased this slow cooker recently, I have used a number of times and am very pleased overall. Just one issue so far as I am concerned - the lid handle is not large enough and certainly there is not enough rubber protection for the hand. Every time I use the cooker I burn myself on the lid / handle! Please let me know if alternative lid are ever available.

Works brilliantly

I had never used a slow cooker before but this is great, particularly for throwing in mince or small pieces of any meat plus potatoes and whatever you have, e.g. carrotts, beans, onions, mushrooms, kidney beans etc and a can of tomatoes depending on your taste. If you add some thick gravy (which thins with the juices from the cooking process) and a spoonful of curry paste or some curry powder you get a delicious background flavour and a main meal all ready at the end of the day. The instructions say that the lid is not intended to fit tightly - presumably there has to be some ventilation during the process. If you go to work for longer than the stated time of cooking, just leave it on Low setting and it'll be fine.
