Lidded Pudding Basins

I have made both chrstmas puddings and forest fruit puddings in these basins for the first time ths year and they are fantastic. No leaks, no loose lids, no overflowing. Perfect results - steamed in the slow cooker. ***** 5 stars

great pudding basinsby Margaret Goose

I agree that the lids do come off but I use greaseproof paper and foil over the pudding then the lid fits snugly. My husband ties string over the top and sides so that I can lift it out safely. No problems then.

Lidded Pudding Basins

Tried them out and, like Cindy, found that the contents leaked out even though the basin had not been filled to the top. Also found that, when fully wrapped in a tinfoil "envelope", the pudding mix oozed out into the inside of the foil. Very, very disappointed with this product. Definitely would not recommend as, in my opinion, not fit for purpose.

Lidded Pudding Basins

Surprised to read the negative comments about these lidded plastic basins. I have used these particular items from Lakelands for 2 years now without any problems. I have never had a lid come off, but think it's essential not to put too much raw mixture in each container and to allow enough room for expansion as they cook. The lids click on nice and securely and the plastic is sturdy and robust. I had some before from another source and they tended to warp and melt if you weren't careful. I use the smallest size for individual Christmas puddings which, because they are so rich, my family find big enough for one portion, but am now buying the larger size for chocolate steamed or treacle sponge puddings. Damn the calories.

I used the individual size with their lids in my steam oven. The pudding mix oozed out from under the lids, and I finished up with half-puddings and a bit of a mess in the steam oven. Next time I'll do my own lid.....

Made two christmas puddings. One in the steamer and one in the slow cooker. In both cases the lids cam off during cooking so I had to wrap whole thing in foil. Basin that was in slow cooker warped and is now useless. Even though puddings are now cooked, I don't feel the lids are particularly secure. What a shame.

Lidded Pudding Basins

These pudding basins are fantastic. I use lots of them, every year as I make puds for friends and family, and Lakeland really seems to have the price and quality right. I wonder if many people use the lids? I know I don't. I wish Lakeland still did the 2 pint basins as well, as I use those too and I end up buying them in bulk elsewhere.

I love these basins but like the other people have said it would be nice to choose the sizes needed. But I will buy them anyway as they are great for my Xmas puds.

Lidded Pudding Basins

We used to buy these basins to make Christmas puds for family and friends when we lived in the UK. Now we live in New Zealand we still buy them as we haven't found anything comparable over here...they just have further to travel!!

more choice neededby lucie ellis

Lidded Pudding Basins

I agree with Mrs Levy I would like to see a set of these in one of each size or be able to buy one in any size I need. I would like the small one and the medium not the large. This is why I have only given the product one star (for the lack of choice not the quality)

...these pudding basins come in fix amounts. A need a couple of those and one of these and a few of the other. Would be nice if you could "pick n mix" or buy singly. I won't be buying today because I just don't need a full set of each nor can I afford it.

Fantastic portion controlby Mrs Sanchez

Lidded Pudding Basins

My husband is a pudding addict so portion control is crucial in our household - if I make a full-size pudding, he is sure to want seconds! I bought the 1/4 pint basins and they are perfect for individual puddings. Christmas is a nightmare with my family as no one likes 'traditional' pud, and everyone wants something different... at least with these, I can please everyone with a 'traditional shaped' pud!! I love the fact that these are see-through as I can check for done-ness at a glance and there's no fiddling with foil and string, because the lids pop on so easily.

The small 0.15l basin is just right for an individual portion of home-made ice cream or sorbet.

I got a variety of sizes for getting puddings ready for the freezer. In fact, I use them for tupperware too. They're surprisingly useful.

Request for largerby Gillian Deane

Lidded Pudding Basins

Please consider adding larger basins to your range. The minimum size Christmas pudding I cook is 2lb and more often 3lb. These basins are excellent for cooking and storing puddings (I often cook for 2years at once - they are excellent kept) and I can't afford to be without all my basins for a year!

A note from the team: I've passed your larger size suggestion on to our buying team for them to keep it in mind for the future.
