Great at first but...”
So when I bought this mat thought it was amazing. Really useful when making pastry, doesn't slip on the worktop and gives measurements. Unfortunately after about 10 outings, the print is coming off so I have to use on the reverse or I get blue bits in my pastry. It's really disappointing given how expensive this product is for what you are buying. If the print was reversed, printed in black and the writing in a clearer font, the printed side could be placed on the worktop and you would still be able to use the measurements.

I find this great for rolling out pastry. It saves all the mess on the work surface - I roll it up, shake the bits off into the bin then wash. Drying it can be a bit tricky but I drape it over a stool after wiping with a tea towel. It is expensive but worth it!

Although a little expensive, I have found this silicone pastry mat to be worth the money. You need very little flour to roll out your pastry & it makes life much easier! Very pleased.

Saw reviews before buying, most were positive so thought I would take the risk. Bad decision! I have a smaller silicone mat that's a different make and I simply wanted the same but larger. This seemed just the thing when I read the description. There is no comparison. The Lakeland mat is very thin, difficult to pick up when covered with macaron shells for example. It's the only silicone product I've bought that isn't non-stick! When rolling out the mat rucks up. Needs to be twice as thick. For my purposes this is useless. Very surprised to be so disappointed by Lakeland, the price is not justified

I bought this mat more than 6 months ago. I was wary of it because of the reviews but knew if I was not satisfied, I would be refunded, no questions asked. It is excellent. I have used it for kneading bread, folding sourdough, rolling flatbreads, pastry and welshcakes. I usually wipe my work top with a damp cloth before I unroll the mat on it. However I have also used it without doing this. Thanks Lakeland for an excellent product!

Wasn't sure how much I'd use this, but it's brilliant for pastry and sugar paste icing and definately non slip. Always on my worktop as its constantly in use

I was tired of baking paper crumpling up when I rolled dough and plastic wrap use was only good for smaller pieces of dough, I searched lots of websites and no product came out tops so I thought I was taking a risk here. My one and only regret is that I didn't think to buy this sooner. I LOVE this mat and goodbye baking paper! It doesn't slip, is easy to clean and when not in use I keep it rolled up in the box it came in, so easy storage. Thank you for a product that halves the work of rolling pastry or cookie doughs. Full Five stars!

I use mine for both pastry and fondant and it's become indispensable! The dimensions are great and the conversions printed on the mat are very handy too! Highly recommend!

Having recently revamped the kitchen we now have oiled beech worktops. I bought the mat because I was making my niece's wedding cake and wanted to be certain that the icing would be smooth. It was fantastic; the icing lifted of easily with no sticking. Now I use it every time I'm making pastry or bread and it saves such a lot of clearing up - I just fold it up and wash it normally. A bit fiddly to dry but I give it a quick wipe with a cloth afterwards and hang it over the back of a chair, easy! Expensive but worth it.

Bought on a whim, but used all the time”
When this arrived I felt I couldn't really justify it, but I now use it all the time. It's much easier to clean than my kitchen table and helps me keep my mess contained to one area (to my partner's relief). One warning: don't use it when wearing a woolly jumper! I always seem to end up with fluff on my biscuit dough/pastry/fondant icing (must be static or something)!

Better than expected”
I bought the mat to use with fondant icing. Although I was a little put off initially by the price.....it has been money well spent! At first use, I found the fondant did stick just a little, but as suggested by previous review's, I did then dust the mat with a little icing sugar and had no problems at all. I simply moved the mat to the cake, placed on top, and the fondant peeled away no problem......much easier than trying to lift it via the rolling pin or by using my hands. Only wish I had bought one sooner!!

So, so disappointed... I bought this on the advice of a member of the Lakeland staff when I visited their Cardiff store at the weekend. I explained that I had problems with working the rather sticky dough from the bread mix which I had brought previously online from Lakeland. When I got home I saw the packet said non-slip and not non-stick as I had assumed and rang Lakeland customer service. They said it would be fine and it was non-stick as well. However on using it today it was an absolute disaster...the dough continued to stick and I ended up almost arm wrestling it to get

Started making my own bread thought this would be good for kneading dough on and it was for the first three times. Now it slips all over the place on whatever surface. want to swap for wooden board.

This was a delight to use - I needed no flour for a basic short pastry, just a bit of cling film on top of the paste to stop the rolling pin sticking - and it stays in one place! I am a regular baker and I can't quite believe how good it is - if you have a friend who bakes regularly then this is a fabulous present. I am already making lists of who I can buy this for. Well done to your buyers, Lakeland.

I had a different brand pastry mat. It never stuck to the work top even if I taped it down and it eventually split on the back. I was desperate for a replacement but thought this Lakeland one was very expensive so continued to use my (now) disgusting other one. I eventually got so fed up with chasing it around the worktop I decided to splash out on this Lakeland one. What a joy!! It stays put, it's very non-stick with the smallest amount of flour/icing sugar. Dead easy to wash because it's so floppy it just goes in the washing up bowl. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Totally Brilliant & Worth Every Penny”

When I saw this I thought that it was very expensive but now that I've tried it I firmly believe it's worth every penny. Having used a cheaper version in the past which slides all over the place this one is a dream to work on. It stays exactly where it's put and totally flat as if glued to the worktop. The other beauty of this product is its pliability - I was able to roll out the marzipan for my Xmas cake and then just pick up the mat, turn it over and lay the marzipan onto the cake - so no stretching or tearing and I was able to get it just where I wanted it before peeling off the mat.

Good but expensive...”
I agree with other reviewers that the mat is good and is a good size for rolling out pastry etc. I too thought it was non-stick so had a bit of a sticky time with my pastry ! But added flour to roll out on and it was ok in the end. The conversion charts are really handy . The only downside is I think it is very expensive for what it is.

Best pastry board ever”
I have had my pastry board for 5 years at least, it is brilliant, just dust down with cornflour and roll away. The sizes on it for the dishes are a God send. I made a Wedding Hamper up for my niece and put one of these in with rolling pin and baking tins and sheets. She was happy because she loves to bake, he was pleased because he loves her baking...

This is a fantastic product. I purchased it to try and save my kitchen table when baking and it is perfect. Non-slip and large enough to cope with any project. Doddle to clean too - either rinse under the tap or wipe with a soapy cloth and hang over the tap to dry!
