I bought this for a young eight year old friend, and thought he would have great fun making a cake for his mum. Unfortunately it wasn't as fool proof and easy as I thought, and not suitable for a child to use unaided. Not something I would use, so unfortunately it's another present for the charity shop! A shame but great for an older child.

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry the cake in a mug was unsuitable. We're pleased our customer service colleagues were able to help when you contacted us.
Having read the reviews I fully expected to have problems making this cake and need to tweak the recipe. HoweverHowever, armed with an 850W microwave, a medium egg (didn't have large available) and cocoa rather than drinking chocolate, from the first attempt this mug has made excellent cakes! No more rushing to the shop for emergency cake for me (or more likely sending the hubby on his way home from work)!! Yes it spills over the top, but it looks just like the picture! Amazing, thank you Lakeland!

A fun present”
Bought this as an fun extra present for my husband for his birthday, fully appreciating that cake ingredients were not included, it's an OK price for a bit of fun that's re-useable. Test run indicates that it works fine but I suspect the recipe might need a bit of tweaking as cake wasn't quite sweet enough, it burst out the top of the mug as a previous reviewer stated, and it wasn't completely cooked at the bottom - but this is possibly because my microwave is a 1000W rather than 850 so probably needs turning down a bit. All in all, a fun thing to give as an unusual present.

Bought 3 of these for Christmas presents thinking that the dry ingredients were inside the mug but all we got was a mug with measurements inside. Expensive mug.

A note from the team: Thank you for placing your review. We're sorry for the disappointed there were no ingredients included. This was advised on the description to avoid having to have a short shelf life and to make the mug reusable.

Great idea and it works a treat! Really tasty recipe though it spills over the mug so will measure in mug next time and cook in a microwaveable bowl or two mugs. I'll be buying these as gifts.
