Mini Ice Packs

Bought last week and put straight into the freezer for a couple of days. When I used them, some of the small sections were solid, others remained pliable. When I'd returned home, I found 2 of the pouches had split.

My three children all used these in their lunchboxes for the first time on the same day, and in every case the cool pack had burst! What a shame - has never happened before - maybe a quality control issue?

Mini Ice Packs

I've been using one of these in my son's lunchbox for nearly two years now. His juice is still cold at home time!! They don't freeze solid but still do the job - they must be better in a small insulated bag rather than a large cold box. They do the job I bought them for and are also brilliant for bad bumps and scrapes!!

I didn't expect much from such a small ice pack but I have been pleasantly surprised that they work well. So much less effort than carrying around a big ice pack. I use the in an insulated bag and they keep my food cold until lunch.

Should have taken notice of the reviews. Have had the packs in the freezer for 2 weeks and still not frozen, maybe they are not intended to be? Have got some that I bought several years ago, which did freeze, and have given good results. First time I have been disappointed with Lakeland products.

I have used the icepacks for a long time now and i like them. You do have to keep them in a really, really cold freezer though, and the longer you keep them the better they freeze. I will continue to use them and at this moment ordering more. Please dont get rid of them Lakeland. Ill be back for more. Thank you.

Mini Ice Packs

Very disappointed, does not keep any food cold but fine for just sandwiches. The gel packs don't freeze really, even after I keep them in the freezer for a long time. So I guess they are not very effective enough at keeping anything cool. I put all three in the cool bag for hour and a half max and they were no longer cold. Not like Lakeland to sell me something that does not really work, or has made me unsatisfied that I had bought them.

Good as a cold compressby Karen

Mini Ice Packs

Agree that they are a little disappointing in keeping any quantity of food cold but fine for a sandwich. However I wrap one in kitchen paper and use as a cold compress when my children bump themselves and they are great for this

The gel packs don't freeze at all, even after I keep them in the freezer for days. As they don't freeze they aren't effective enough. Will have to return them soon.

Do not work at all!!by Mrs Julie Sanderson

Mini Ice Packs

Wish I had read reviews before purchasing. Bought for my mum to keep insulin cool whilst out. Froze for a week before we needed them and were still squishy. Only had all 3 in cool bag for hour and a half max and they were no longer cold. Unusual for a Lakeland product not to do what it says, but these do not keep cold, and are a waste of money. Shame as normally can rely on.

No Good I'm sure they make food warmer!!by Marie Brown

Mini Ice Packs

I bought these from my local Lakeland store. Usually love their products, but sadly not this one. They only stay cold for about 10 -20 minutes then are back to room temperature and so is your food.

Mini Ice Packs

I bought these for in my daughters lunch box when she went back to school. One of the three packs wouldn't freeze at all !!! The other two are just defrost way too fast, absolutely no good for keeping a packed lunch cool. They are now in the bin where they belong. Very dissapointed.

Don't work, even WITH cool bags, don't buy!by Mrs Summers

Mini Ice Packs

I bought a pack of three of these. Stuck them in the freezer and put one in my lunch the next day (in a cool bag). My lunch had even been made with frozen bread (keeps it fresher, and helps keep sarnie cool), and still my lunch was room temp by the time I ate it (noon-ish). I then tried putting the cool packs stand alone freezer, figuring the one with my fridge wasn't cold enough for them. But when I put it in the cool pack the next day, my lunch still warmed up to room temp. So I tried it in another, different cool bag: same results. So I tried two packs together: same results. I've tried every permutation. My lunch is always COLD going into the cool bag with the mini ice packs. It's always room temp at lunch time. Not nice with yougurt. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I cannot stress this enough, I thought the others who gave bad reviews were just not using packs correctly, but that isn't the case. The Mini Ice Packs just do NOT work to keep food cool. Perhaps Lakeland should change the product claims. Currently they have written: 'Packed lunches in an office drawer, or cloakroom near a radiator can become a health risk. Keep them cool for hours with these gel-filled mini ice packs.' They should perhaps sell these to cool minor sprains or burns and the like, because they DON'T keep food cool 'for hours'. They don't even keep food cool between breakfast and lunch!

Mini Ice Packs

I bought these as the ice packs I had were too big for my insulated lunch bag and I thought that I could put two in to keep all the items cold and if I needed to I could wrap items up in the packs. The packs were great for putting into the bag and wrapped well around my food but this was the only good point. I keep my lunch in my desk drawer, in an insulated zipped lunch bag, in an office which is a pleasant temperature. However after just 2 hours everything in the bag felt warmer than it should be and by dinner time my yoguurt was at room temperature. I therefore think that these packs are only useful for sprains and aches, as they simply do not keep anything cool for hours (certainly not themselves). In future I think I will stick with the big bulky ice packs, despite the problems that they cause and these others will probably end up in the bottom of my freezer. Not recommended.

Medical useby Valerie

Mini Ice Packs

I don't use these in food packs - I use them on ankles, knees, hands and anywhere else you need to get the swelling down! I have used them for years for my arthritis and they are better than the traditional bag of peas because they are pliable and bend to the shape of your hand, leg etc. When using, remember to place a sheet of kitchen roll between the flesh and the ice pack to prevent freezer burns. You used to sell larger sheets which I cut but these are just as good.

They DO work...by Sarah

Mini Ice Packs

... when used with an insulated bag. We bought these along with an insulated sandwich bag. We used them all last summer to take lunch to the beach on the hottest days (in the UK anyway!), and our sandwiches and boxes of juice were still practically fridge-cold by lunchtime, 4-5 hours later. Use them to extend the length of time an insulated bag will keep things cool for. I can imagine that just put in a normal plastic box they won't stay frozen long at all - after all, they're not that big. But in an insulated bag or cool box they're great. The gel doesn't go solid when frozen so they're still pliable, unlike some other products that just turn into a block of ice.

Not very good, warm by lunchtimeby Julia

Mini Ice Packs

I bought 2 packs of 3 mini ice packs for the kids lunchboxes, to wrap around drinks and yogurts, the children complained of the items still being warm, so tested them myself on the same products during the day and they loose the frozenness within one and a half hours so by lunchtime they are warm and useless. i suppose if you eat the food within half an hour they are fine but that rather defeats the object of keeping lunch cold. What a waste of money and effort in freezing them in the first place. would not suggest them to anyone, and the best place for them is the bin. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY
