I bought the older Balanzza model years ago and it has given excellent service. I bought this new one because it was smaller and lighter. It also performs brilliantly, but I agree with the reviewer about the battery changing. Luckily, I checked it just before I was due to travel, and the battery was flat. Changing it was fiddly and I had to find the correct battery type. It would have been 5 stars if not for this, but still recommended.

A note from the team: Thank you for placing your review. The scales take 2 x CR2032, available from most supermarkets. To improve the life of the battery we'd recommend you remove them, if the scales are being stored for long periods between use.
Good product but.....”

This product is small, compact and essential for a frequent flyer with a lost cost airline. However, you need (I believe) a Philips screwdriver to access the battery and, often travelling with hand lugguage only, this is the first item that would be taken off me at airport security. (So I make sure I have this screwdriver where I fly from and to!). A useful feature is the 'low battery' indicator. Unbeknown to me, my previous scales underweighed by 5k, a fact which I found out at check-in, to my cost!

I purchased the scale , but when opening it is impossible to remove the screws to reach the battery. because the item is in a sealed package there is no way of knowing that the problem won't happen again. Advice from the store was to return the item if we are unable to reach the battery when the battery runs out !!

Not as good as old style”
by Mrs Ronella McGrath
I have had a Balanzza luggage scale, bought from Lakeland, for years and it has traveled all over the world with me. Having lost the battery cover years ago it is held together with tape and now looks so shabby that I decided, when the batteries died, to treat myself to a new one. What a disappointment the new one is. It is half as heavy again (131g to the old 86g) and so bulky it doesn't fit into the wee pocket the old one lived in. I decided just to stick to my old one and use the batteries from the new one but the cover is fixed with tiny screws which I have been unable to loosen.

Really easy to use straight out of the packet, no fiddly batteries, set-up or calibration. Very accurate measurements and quality item at a really good price compared to inferior alternatives.
