WHAT A LITTLE GEM THIS ISby Leeta

5 stars out of 5

iSlice®

I have had a Lakeland old style version of this for years but it can't beat the iSlice . At last a tool that gets through those infuriating plastic wraps that drive me mad. I have arthritic hands and on many occasions have had to give the plastic 'best' till I get a strong armed visitor. Not any more! I cut through a very stubborn plastic cover so easily I couldn't believe it. I will keep my old cutter as it has the gift of only cutting through one layer of paper without destroying all the pages clipping out a recipe or something, The new islice cuts through several sheets.

One of the most useful things I have ever had. Used everyday. Have already bought a spare in case I should lose it.

Good, esp. for tremor, but not omnipotentby Candida

iSlice®

I've found this invaluable. It's excellent on tape around boxes (which it can be impossible to get scissors under), those self-sealed plastic bags sold for posting, bubble-lined jiffy envelopes, and thinner blister packs. It won't do all blister packs or the tougher "clamshells". Got one for someone I know with shaky old hands too, very useful. You do have to hold it with its bottom flat to the thing being cut, took me a while to realise that when it wasn't cutting I was tilting it. Once you know, it becomes second nature.

Frustrating Gadgetby Evelyn

1 stars out of 5

iSlice®

I was very excited about this gadget as I am always cutting out coupons and recipes from magazines and thought it would be very handy for this purpose. How wrong I was. I have to do so much fiddling around to get the angle absolutely correct and have it lying absolutely flat etc etc that I could have the coupon cut out in a fraction of the time with a pair of scissors. I then thought it would come in useful for cutting through the hard plastic packaging that surrounds everything these days but it is no good for that either. Extremely disappointed with this purchase.

Couldn't live without one that's why I've got twoby Val

iSlice®

I have one on the side of the fridge and one up in the office. They are better than scissors for getting into the very tough bubble plastic of that well known American warehouse's products. As the other reviews state it is necessary to use it flat. They don't look much but if you haven't tried one you really must.

I hate that ultra-thick plastic a lot of products now come in (including, ironically, this product!!) but this item safely cuts through it like a dream so you can just slip the product out.

Alas - it doesn't!by Judith

As other reviewers have said. On plastic it is totally useless, which is why I bought it - to open plastic packaging. Have tried several sorts, but no go. It does cut paper, but so does a craft knife!

Not for left handersby Valerie

iSlice®

I am very disappointed in this item. I am always chopping out bits for magazines etc so thought it would be great for me. Unfortunately as I am left handed it doesn't seem to cut for me. My partner who is right handed has no problems just me. Gutted! All it leaves is an indent on cut at all.

Too fiddlyby David King

1 stars out of 5

iSlice®

I have owned this product for ages but sadly it has been relegated to a drawer. Despite perservering many times to successfully cut out coupons and completed crosswords etc. from newspapers I have given up and used sharp scissors. As some other reviewers have noted - it certainly does not cut thin plastic. Although I am male I do not have hands like a goalkeeper or Shrek but this product is far too fiddly - cannot be bothered with it and would not recommend it.

Slice 'n' easy!by Mrs Stone

I've not seen this before, anywhere! Lakeland introduces me to things like this. Thank you, all. This gadget is perfect. So long as I remember not to tip it and to keep it level in use. Packaging, and recipes to cut out, were made for this gadget! I know, it was the other way round as to which came first, but I'm being whimsical ;-)

Works wellby Neale

I keep mine on the fridge and use it for opening post, cuttings from magazines and newspapers, packing tape and more. However it DOES cut through more than one page so make sure that when snipping from papers & mags that you put some padding behind the item you're cutting - loses one star for this.

iSlice is Nice!by Mrs White

5 stars out of 5

iSlice®

This is a nifty gadget - once you get the hang of it, and the magnet keeps it close-to-hand on the side of my microwave. It <does> require you to hold it perfectly flat as you run the long edge along whatever you are trying to cut. I've had to train myself to do this, as it seems instinctive to try to tilt it up so it will dig in better... which is exactly the opposite to how it works. I've had my original iSlice for some time, and given it hard use on everything from parcel tape on packages through all grades of blister pack (although curved surfaces are not it's strong point, it works fine on flat ones). I especially like it for getting through the irritating cellophane wrappers on new CDs. I often find the iSlice is easier and simpler to use that digging scissors or a kitchen knife out of a drawer. After the heavy use I've given it, I have to say that I think the blade isn't working <quite> as efficiently as it did at first... but I keep using it - and I've gone out and bought a new one to have 'in reserve' because I wouldn't be without this little gadget.

Great little cutting toolby AMANDA

I am addicted to recipes in magazines and always keep my favourite recipes from each magazine I read. Until now cutting out a recipe I had to destroy the magazine or make a very poor job of cutting out the recipe. Now with thie islice I can easily and neatly remove the recipes.

Fabulous!by Susan

iSlice®

I have had this product for nearly a year, use it everyday and consider it a marvel. Due to illness, my fingers do not fit into a pair of scissors and I have trouble exerting pressure with my hands. The iSlice lets me cut into packing tape on boxes, plastic wrap on magazines, cut out coupons, articles and recipes from magazines and newspapers and generally not have to ask for help. It is magnetically attached to the leg of my coffee table so it's always on hand. It's not sharp (a good thing) but it works. I love it and wouldn't be without it.

Nice to start with but.....by Mr Price

iSlice®

Was good to start with, however after a little use it doesn't cut as good as it did to begin with. The info on the pack said it cuts through thin plastic, well I tryed to open thin blister packages and it just scores it, not cuts through it. As said in other reviews it's faster to use scissors.

iSlice - Great little productby Mrs Riddy

4 stars out of 5

iSlice®

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and have been using it on a daily basis - it's great!! I've already recommended it to friends. I have weak and arthritic hands so using scissors is not always easy for me. Does it have a big brother? I would really like a bigger tougher version for cutting through thicker things as well! The only fault I would say is putting it in packaging that is so hard to get into and definitely requires good scissors to open. The whole point is you don't need scissors with one of these so why put it in such tough packaging?? Also the packet is a lot bigger than it needs to be and therefore not exactly enviromentally friendly.

Looks great but.......by Mrs Barrat-Sweeney

1 stars out of 5

iSlice®

I am sorry to say that I'm rather disappointed in the performance of this little gadget. After using it about 4-5 times, the part which is supposed to cut effortlessly through various types of plastic tapes has gone completely soft and rounded. As mentioned by another customer, it's much quicker to use sharp scissors to cut through packaging tape....

must just be me, then...by Miss Hammersley

iSlice®

Ironically, given that this is meant for slicing through those annoying plastic packages that are otherwise impossible to get into, it comes in, er, an irritating plastic package that is otherwise impossible to get into. It's a nice idea, and it does have a handy magnet so you can always find it, but frankly you would be better off just using a craft knife. It's not man enough to go through packing tape so it's no use for parcels and if you're going to keep it in the kitchen anyway you might just as well use scissors for cutting things out of magazines. So in summary it's a pain to get into, and you'll still need scissors and knife for parcels etc anyway.

iSlice®

This does what it says! Its very handy, its even smaller than I had thought it was going to be, the magnet means it can "stick" to the fridge, ready for lots of handy uses. I love that its not an actual blade so you can't slice your finger. Well worth the money, really handy.
