What happened to the orange?”
by Karen Bain
Why did the manufacturers take the orange out of the cleaner? Not only have we lost the lovely aroma, but (maybe it's my imagination) I don't think it cleans as well. Karen

A note from the team: Thank you for placing your review. The orange Astonish wasn't as popular but the current one is the same strength paste without the orange oil for fragrance.
Got rid of rust stain in an instant!”
I bought this as I had read another review where it had removed rust stains from a surface. I had left a pan that wasn't properly dry on the side and it had left a rust stain that I couldn't remove with anything it seemed. However this got rid of it with no scrubbing whatsoever! Completely effortless! On my grill pan it was slightly more challenging but I imagine it was because of the nooks and crannies. But for the price, this stuff is truly wonderful!

Astonish is absolutely astonishing”
Soon to move into a new home where I was told the kitchen had been cleaned! Cleaned by whom? Bought a tub of Astonish and it cut through the grease and grime of about 5 years like a knife through butter. Need my sunglasses to go into kitchen now!!!!

After a long wait for delivery had high hopes for this product. Yes it does clean hobs, sinks etc but it's hard work! Leaves a white residue which needs repeated wiping then polishing off. The product when opened looks like putty. Tired using it dry and wet but disappointed with the amount of effort required to obtain results. Other cleaners do work better.

it really does work!”
I had cleaned the burnt on grease and muck in the oven using the Oven Cleaning Gel and then polished it using the Astonish Oven @ Cookware cleaner. It put a lovely shine of the door paint work and glass panel and made the wire racks shine. I found it better for this sort of gentle cleaning than Bar Keepers Friend which can be quite aggressive by comparison. It did an excellent job of giving a final polish. It also put the shine back on some heavy duty saucepans which were clean but had gone dull.

astonishingly fixed damaged SS hob!”
This stuff is amazing! I bought it because of the great reviews, to try and repair a stainless steel hob which I stupidly treated with a leading brand of toxic oven hob cleaner. What a mistake, it destroyed the hob leaving it with black/blue stains and what looked like water marks. I freaked, assuming the hob was ruined for good but decided to do a bit of research to see if there was anything which might help. I tried astonish yesterday and whilst it required a bit of elbow grease I was amazed that it seemed to be working. It's not fully restored but all the discoloration is gone and I am going to try it again.

After reading the other reviews of this product, I thought I'd give it a go - by goodness what a fantastic result on my steel hob, wish I had bought it sooner. Have to watch though as its an abrasive. Also used it on the wire shelves in oven and they are now gleaming. For my oven though I used the Oven Mate gel kit which was recommended by assistant in local shop, fantastic results too. Well done Lakeland!

Should be called Amazing”
I must have tried all oven cleaners in my time but this is the one for me. No leaving on for hours - just apply with a scourer and a bit of elbow grease and everything comes up sparkling. No horrid smell or eye watering acid. Great stuff.

It is Astonishing”
I was a little sceptical about this product but bought it as I had read the reviews and it seemed to work. It does! I had a few stainless steel pots that were black and it brought them up as good as new. Don't hesitate to buy this stuff really works on all sorts of things

Bought this product because of the fab reviews- but I have yet to be impressed. It left a powdery residue on the cooker and the sink looked the same after alot of scrubbing.

I have just used this to clean our stianless steel electric hob (imagine years of being a bachelor's cooker!) and I have to say I am amazed by how effective it is. It's even got rid of a mystery shiny 'laquered' burnt on stain that I had previously tried to chip off with a knife but scratched the cooker. It's gone! One application of Astonish and most of it came off, and the rest I could scrape of using just my thumbnail. Amazing stuff!

When we moved into our new home we inherited a rather dirty stainless steel hob from the previous owners. I tried all sorts of expensive toxic smelling cleaners without much success before I came across this. It cleaned the burnt on grease in no time and left me with a gleaming hob. Unfortunately it has left scratch marks in the stainless steel (hence 4 stars), I guess I used a little too much elbow grease. We also used it on our bbq which hadn't seen daylight for a few years and was in a bad state. And it removes rust from tiles. Great product - just take care with it

A note from the team: Thank you for your feedback to help others. The care instructions do state not for use on highly polished stainless steel as this product is a mild abrasive. So gently does it is good advice!
An excellent friend, not only in the kitchec but all around the house!

Is it just me or has the removal of the orange oil made this product work less astonishingly? I find I have to go over spills etc. at least twice with the new unattractive grey paste. I would be interested to know why the orange oil has been removed and whether it really did affect the performance.

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. Our buyinmg team have advised that the orange oil was purely to scent the product and had no cleaning benefits. The original paste has all the same cleaning properties so the performance of the product should not have changed. Thank you for your time and feedback.
A must for belfast/ceramic sinks”
I bought this and Bar tenders friend(BTF). I have a ceramic sink that I have tried all the conventional things to clean it including other cream cleaners, and even abrasive pads! I was thinking of buying a new sink, but then some internet research threw up this and BTF as a possible solution. Neither were particularly expensive, so I bought both and did one half of the sink with each. Et voila. Hallelujah! I now have a sparkling clean ceramic sink. I found BTF superior, but Astonish is easier to use. My only criticism is that Lakeland staff do not know that these products are great for such sinks.
