I was so excited to see this product - I just had to buy it! However, it has been incredibly disappointing and I have hardly used it. The balls didn't cook evenly and the seam makes the pops look like flying saucers rather than round balls. It is a nice idea but I think there are other cheaper and easier methods to make cake pops...

Great fun, really useful even for yorkshires!”
I love this machine. I have tried the recipes in the booklet and used standard cake recipe 2oz sugar, flour, butter 1 egg with great success. I've filled them with icing using a syringe, as well as a well known chocolate spread and jam. It even makes funny round Yorkshires, although you need to use only about a teaspoon of batter. I used Lakeland cake release and got the cakes out using my fingers (ouch) or a little corn on the cob fork.

Great at first, but then pretty disappointing”
by Mrs Mills
When I first used this product it produced beautiful cake pops, so I was really pleased. Second time around and my cake pop would only cook evenly at the front of the machine while the 6 last holes at the back only cook at the bottom, not on top anymore. Weird, and very disappointing, especially since I usually love all of Lakeland's own brand products...

my guide unit made the cake pops had a great time but found cleaning the plates difficult, perhaps removal plates would make a big difference, the buns were great

A note from the team: Thanks for the review, I'm glad the Guides had fun making the cake pops. I'll be sure to pass your suggestion on but in the meantime we would just recommend, while still warm, wiping the cups with some kitchen roll.
Real fun :-)”
Very professional. I have got it as a present and I am very happy with it. I use to fill a batter dispenser, that makes more easier and faster. Made already more than 500! pop cakes, and still not sticking. Actually 6 stars :-)

Used the machine for the first time today and was so disappointed, had to quickly fill machine as balls were cooking before final one was filled then some were half cooked. Wished I had kept box to return as wont be using again! Waste of time.

I am disappointed with my recent purchase. The sponge balls all have a prominent seam that runs round them, which shows when iced. It is also quite difficult to remove the sponge without marking/denting them and they tend to flatten on the end that sits on the cooling rack. This means you end up with a slightly squashed looking ball. Although the sponge is lovely and light this also means that when you insert the ball into the chocolate melt the stick either pokes through the end (even though I iced the end) or when you gently shake the excess chocolate off the ball wobbles off the stick! :(

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry for the disappointment. The heavy seam may be caused by having too much mix in the holes. We'll be in touch shortly.
Quick, easy and fun”
I bought the 12 hole cake pop maker originally planning on getting the smaller one. I’m pleased I went for this one. I followed the recipes that came with it and they were very good. It was really quick and easy to use, I used two silicone spoons to remove the cake pops so that I didn’t scratch the machine and they came out so easily. To make life easier I piped the mixture in to the moulds, the first batch of cake pops came out a little small, so I used more the second time, they came out lovely and round and once decorated looked great. I would definitely recommend this product.

Nifty little Machine”
Just had the first go of my new cake pop maker. Really easy to use, very quick & pretty good results by the second batch, overfilled the first time. I made the vanilla receipe that came with the book which is supposed to make 24 but by using a melon baller as a portion guide (as you would use an icecream scoop for cupcakes) I was able to get 36 perfect cakes. I have also found Mikado choc biscuit sticks make excellent edible alternatives to the normal lollipop sticks which strike me as a bit wasteful. Removal plates for easier cleaning could be a future improvement but overall great item.
