“duo icing bag

My sister bought me this for Christmas with extra bags and it is awesome. So easy to use. My only dilemma is what colours to use

“Made my wrists hurt!

I was really excited to try this duo icing kit. I followed the instructions and managed to get a really good seal on the nozzle. There was no icing coming out the sides and I even managed to change the nozzle head twice. The problem I found, was that it physically hurt my wrists to squeeze hard enough to get an even flow. If the icing was softer , then you loose the shape. I usually like to hold my cupcakes in one hand whilst I easily 'swirl' with the other, but I had to use both hands to force the icing through and therefore lost the style I was hoping to achieve. Hurt too much to use again.

A handy tip to help with the flow of the butter icing is the softer the butter the easier it flows. Filling each side of the bag with equal amounts and half way helps when you twist the bag to pipe.
“Really pleased with the results

I received this for Christmas as a secret Santa gift. I am no expert at icing cakes and normally the shapes I try all come out in a mess but I found this really easy to use. I filled with half chocolate and half vanilla icing and then tested first in the bowl to check that the icing was coming out at the same time. Worked really well for me and I managed to get the same effect as in the picture. The writing tips are large but then if you are trying to squeeze through two colours of icing anything smaller wouldn't work, I just won't be using them for writing anything, just decorations.

“Fantastic!

I've been reading through these reviews & I'm 13 years old & found it incredibly easy to use this product! I had to add a little milk to my chocolate buttercream to thin it out a little, but when I piped, the icing came out perfectly & held it shape! I filled the piping bag on my own and seeing as I'm not the best when it comes to getting things right with some areas in baking, it worked absolutely fine! Just put in a spoon at a time with the icing & I've reused my bags! When it comes to writing I have a bag that I just cut a tiny corner off a bag, use 1 side!

“Not impressed

I firstly bought the separate duo piping bags (both sizes) and the coupling but as I have plenty of decent piping nozzles. I soon found out that you can only use the plastic nozzles from the Duo colour icing kit, so I had to go out & buy a kit yesterday. I tried to pipe two colours into the cupcakes today & found this kit to be the most infuriating thing that I have bought for a long time, as it is virtually impossible to get both colours of buttercream to flow out together in equal amounts.

“Great little gadget

I bought this a few weeks ago and have only managed to find the time to use it once. I think I need a second pair of hands to hold the bag while I fill it [lol], but loved the results. They weren't as good as the picture on the website here, but for a first attempt I was pretty chuffed with myself, particularly as I'm not that great at decorating anyway. I'm looking forward to having another go when I get the chance. I have tried once before to do 2 coloured icing by putting 2 different coloured icings in the same bag but the results weren't as good as this idea. Thanks Lakeland!!

“disappointed

Bought this to decorate my daughters birthday cupcakes. Got it out the night before to decorate them and the divider on the coupling promptly snapped off!!!!!! So upset and no exciting birthday cupcakes!!!

“Very disappointed

This is the first product I have ever taken back in the many years I have shopped with Lakeland. The nozzles have no definition and are too small. I am at a loss as to how achieve the same results as in your photographs. It's a pity as it's a really good concept.

“so disappointed !

I have for many years "dual Iced" by splitting icing in a normal bag so you can imagine how pleased I was when Lakeland introduced the dual icing set but Oh what a let down it is. I have tried 3 times with no success and much frustration. I have of course read the instructions but find it impossible to get icing to feed evenly, bag frequently splits and icing squeezes out of coupling all round disastrous product. I have now gone back to tried and tested method. Also have to say this is the second "wonder product" I have bought from Lakeland which has been thrown in bin.

I was really excited when I saw the duo icing set but unfortunately I was very disappointed.The nozzle is very small and does not make professional looking cupcakes. The chambers in the nozzle is also very small making piping very difficult. The icing needs to be quite soft to pipe easily which means that it looses it shape. I will be going back to my old piping bag to get the professional looking cupcakes I want. I may use this set with my Grandaughter as she will enjoy the mix of colours but not when I want to give cupcakes as a present.

Can the other reviewers help me to achieve the rsults they speak of as I haven't had any success with my duo icer yet. I just don't seem able to get the pressure to be able to force the icing through the narrower outlet. I have wasted and made such a mess each time I have tried and resorted to single colour again. Help please as I would love to achieve the results in the picture and my cupcakes usually look so good I am not able to leave them in a mess.

“Duo Icing Kit

Doesn't quite work for us unfotunately! My daughter was bought a kit for Christmas by a friend as it was on her 'I'd like' list as she's a dab hand with a piping bag despite her age (14) and we've only just got round to using it. Filled ok, iced four fairy cakes beautifully then the bag burst away from the coupler - had to start again with new bag. Same thing happened again - most unimpressed! Wish I'd never bought the spare set of small bags in my order this week now! Most unusual to be disappointed with any Lakeland product but won't be recommending this one!

Very sissapointed worst thing ever looking at it looks great but when you use it rubbish the nozzle does not work so it means the icing mixes up and does not come out atall like the picture and video shows not happy :( :( :( i had to put a one star rating as it wont let you put a 0

“Disappointed

Wish I had read the reviews before buying the kit. Thought this would make life easier, but it didn't. I couldn't squeeze the icing through to the nozzle and ended up cutting the nozzle off and squeezing into a single bag with a larger metal nozzle. Great idea, but needed more thought. They need larger nozzles.

“Unexpectedly disappointing!

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing! I have used this kit 3 times now and it does not get any easier. The idea is fabulous but unfortunately still needs working on. I would imagine that the majority of us who bought this product will be busy mums who just do not have the time to fiddle on, asking another person to help fill the bag, fill alternate sides etc etc. The nozzles do not stay on if you exert slightly too much pressure and I think some type of solid icing container would have been much better. Final effect not worth the time, effort and frustration!

I purchased this set recently and have to say the results were fantastic. Well worth the money. I would recommend reading the instructions first though.

“Good idea but disappointed

Was really looking forward to buying this. However, was disappointed. Very fidly to put together. The bags were very stiff & I struggled to squeeze them to get the buttercream out of the nozzle! And I make light fluffy soft buttercream! Also I made the mistake of putting one colour in first, then no room for the other buttercream so had to scrape some out to fill the other side. It didn't pipe evenly either and I couldn't put the icing back in the bag and start again as the colours would have mixed!

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry you were disapponited when using the kit. Filling each side of the bag with one spoonful of butter icing at a time gives you equal amounts. Fill the bags to just over half way this helps when you twist the bag to pipe.
“Could be better

I purchased this before reading the reviews but read them before using, I managed to overcome most of the problems others have said they had by using a bit of common sense but I must say that I think the plastic the piping bags are made of is a little thick and found them a little difficult to hold once twisted in the hand, also needed alot of pressure using both hands to get the buttercream flowing well, my other complaint is that, like most, I have bought this for topping cupcakes and thought it would be a good idea if it was supplied with a nozzle which is much closer to the most popular 1m

Bought this and was really looking forward to using it, but was very disappointed as it leaked all over my hands at the bottom and I thought the quality of the nozzles was not great. Wish I'd saved the £4.99 and gone for a more expensive set which I'm going to have to buy anyway now!
