Having previously had another model that died years ago, I was thrilled to buy this newer version. The excitement did not last long!!The closed in base meant that the onion was chopped almost to liquid in the centre and was still in quite large pieces round the edges. When I removed the base to move the onion around, the red base fell out and the wings shot up and I was covered in onion. I tried a few more times, thinking that I had not quite got the hang of it, but it went from bad to worse. In the end, I did the sensible thing - I got out my sharpest knife and chopped up the onion by hand.

Not fit for purpose”
by Kenneth McNally
I have previously owned 2 Zyliss food choppers, and they were brilliant. Both lasted around ten years so I was keen to buy a new one. Sadly this latest version is over-engineered and simply doesn't work. I bought one at the end of last year and at first use the same day trying to chop carrots the blade guide broke and the blades bent. The staff at the Salisbury store next day were most apologetic and readily replaced it. Today I tried an onion with much the same result. I hope the staff will be as helpful tomorrow when I take it back again. Don't buy one, the older ones were far better.

Thought I had found the answer to chopping all those vegetables, but I agree with all the other reviews. This was a complete waste of money. Will probably live in the back of my cupboard for ever. Do not be tempted to buy this item.

I recently bought one of these choppers and have been so disappointed with it, it doesn't chop properly and is so fiddly to put together, I won't be using it anymore, drives me mad!! Not one of Lakelands best products for sure.

A note from the team: Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to our customer services team. We're sorry that you'd been disappointed with the chopper. We are glad they were able to help.
Apart from being quite fiddly to put together, there is a design fault in the clear plastic lid/container which connects to the rest by engaging two lugs. When a piece of chopped union was caught between lug and the upper part, the lug snapped off during a choppin operation. I returned the chopper to Lakeland after using it for a month and was given a full refund with which I bought a compact chopper. It works perfectly and is simple to clean. Thank you Lakeland for being so understanding and helpful/

I am so disappointed with my new Zyliss chopper. I have tried to use it two or three times now but have ended up scraping the food from in between the blades and chopping it by hand. This is the first gadget that I have bought that will definitely stay at the back of my cupboard

I make a lot of soups/stews/etc..... using a lot of onion.... and thought it would be ideal I have used this chopper several times, and was so disappointed. I have not used it for several months, bumped into it in the cupboard, and thought I would go online.......ridiculous I know....to look for a demo video to see what I was doing wrong. The other comments mirrored mine..... Back to using a good sharp knife.....

A bad buy.”

Totaly useless, with the few strokes when it did work, it failed to chop the onion properly and for the most part it just kept jamming up.

Pam - disappointed to put it mildly”
by Mrs Pamela Williams
I make lots of soups so thought this item could be helpful. I'm afraid it didn't live up to expectations. The only thing it could manage was onion - not well at that. it was useless chopping carrots, celery etc. I am old but not arthritc and I found it very fiddly to manipulate, especially as there was not much capacity in the chopping area.

A great disappointment”
We had an old Zyliss chopper for years and were quite distraught when it finally fell to pieces. I was pleased to find this one and ordered it straight away but it turned out to be a pale imitation of the original. The first time we used it, the onion we were chopping got caught between the "foot" attached to the red blade guide and the body of the chopper. Consequently, the chopper could not rotate and the blades came down in the wrong place on the blade guide which then snapped in two. Thank you Lakeland for your excellent response to the problem
