Lovely waffles but hot!”
My son received this for Christmas and has enjoyed making the waffles - and they are delicious - but the outside of the machine gets very hot. After a couple of batches it's almost unbearable to touch, which makes it hard to open and close! I'm not sure if this is a fault or a design flaw, but it makes me reluctant to use it (or let my son do so if I'm not around).

A note from the team: Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. The surface of your Waffle Stick Maker will become hot, so exercise caution. Steam may escape during cooking and when lifting the lid. This is normal, but take care. Use oven gloves to open and close the lid.
I found the machine really easy to use and not had any problems with the handle or the mess - I found I got the hang of how much was too much. The only down side was there is no basic waffle recipe in the booklet and whilst they all look lovely they are a bit complicated for a quick breakfast. I will try them but in the meantime I agree with Erica the BBC Good Food one was fantastic and quickly made 2 batches to make pudding for 11 with enough left over for quick breakfasts! The plates heat up really quickly so it takes the same as a piece of toast but much yummiest. Would highly recommend

We have no trouble making waffle sticks using this little handy machine and they make perfect sized treats for little hands too. But we were wondering, how long could we 'keep' waffle sticks for once they are made?

A note from the team: Our tip would be to refrigerate within two hours of cooking, cover the waffles with foil or cling film or place in a plastic bag to prevent the waffles drying out this help prolong the freshness of the waffles for one more day. If you choose to freeze to make them last a little longer, place a sheet of waxed paper between each waffle then wrap the waffles tightly in foil or place in a freezer bag. They last 1-2 months with this method.
Bought this after seeing a recomendation in a national newspaper, but have been disappointed. Have tried the recipes included and also tried various other ones but unable to produce anything that I would be happy to serve. Very disappointed.

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry that the results produced by the waffle maker have been so disappointing and will be in touch shortly to help.
Worked brilliantly first time! Sitting in the garden in the sun with kids eating waffles, choc sauce, maple syrup and banana! Even got enough left over for breakfast! Easy to use - just follow the user instructions carefully. After reading other reviews I found my own reicipe on the internet for plain waffles. Great for the kids - they loved seeing the mixture bubble and how it changed. A different way to have a treat!

I bought this for my children for Christmas, at the time it was the only waffle-maker Lakeland stocked. Unfortunately despite trying different recipes as well as those in the instruction booklet we always ended up with disappointingly floppy soft waffles. There was no way we could have put them on a stick let alone dipped them in anything. As always, superb service from Lakeland, an immediate no quibble refund and I am now awaiting delivery of the far more expensive but hopefully better Cuisinart machine.

Great product !”
I got this waffle maker for my birthday. I wanted something, not too big, and this one has a perfect size. The recipe book made me discover savoury waffles which are great for aperitif ! My little loves them ! Very happy with this product.

Great for the money!”

I wasn't convinced the first time we used it, but after using Jamie Oliver's waffle recipe, I'm totally won over. It's cheap, small and it works a treat.

Not as easy as it looks!”
by Stacey Hart
I consider myself a good cook and was very much looking forward to making the waffles for my boys. Firstly the recipe book doesn't seem to have a simple plain waffle recipe, they are all fancy. Secondly, the machine is hard to fill and use and thirdly its hard to close and then open again (without burning your fingers!) Lastly it is hard to clean. Hmmmmm, I wish I had purchased the Cuisinart one on the website. Disappointed :(

Nice - but messy!!”
by Miss Beatt
Waffle pan nice girly shade of pink!. Be very careful not to put too much mixture in the pan as yes - it does overspill and gets extremely messy! - overall very good. Tried the chocolate waffle mix first - very nice - the batter made about 6 waffles altogether - plenty of fingers to go around a family of 4.

Great while it lasted!!”
I used my waffle iron once and it was great- easy to use and made great waffles that we all loved, it was a real treat for a weekend breakfast. I only used a little oil on it and the waffles came out very easily and it was easy to clean. Unfortunately, after I used it my daughter knocked it off the table and a large section of the outer casing broke, so make sure you're careful with it and put it safely away after you've cleaned it!

just buy one”
bought this little machine for the grandchildren but ended up making waffle sticks for everyone. I did not like the faffing about with the recipes in the book that came with the gadget so searched around and found a real crispy recipe on www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipies. The sort that you just throw everything in the mixer together and it turns out superb results. The batter also keeps in the fridge for three to four days. Have fun I love it.

mostly love it”
my 3 kids all love waffles, so this is great for 'homemade'. it is small, and comes in a fairly compact box, so easily storable, comes with a handy measuring cup for batter, and a recipe book(loads more on the internet) one type i make- vanilla waffle with choc chips, one batch makes approx 40-45. so plenty to eat fresh, and they freeze beautifully (5 mins @200deg to reheat from frozen). 2 things i would change 1) the clip to open it is too small, feels like i might burn myself if not careful, and 2) not an easy clean so i will buy the first waffle maker with removable dishwashable iron!

A great product, easy to use and recipes are simple to follow. Quick to make, quick to bake. Love my machine! Thanks Lakeland!

Excellent product - it is a lot smaller than I originally thought from the pictures on the website but worth the effort.
