Easter-Egg-Tastic!by Tracey

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I was given one of these as a present after attempting and failing for the last two years running to make my own Easter eggs using silicone moulds. The thermometer allowed me to get the temper of the chocolate right for the first time ever. The eggs set properly and came out of the moulds perfectly. Result!

An excellent and useful product.by Mrs Andrea Hobbs

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I saw this spatula shortly before Christmas when looking for a replacement sugar thermometer to make fudge. It works well and is an easy way to monitor temperature. A very clever idea and prevents the need to have something clipped on the side of a pan. It comes apart easily for cleaning. I was so pleased with the effectiveness of the spatula that I told several people about it and now it is on offer I am going to treat my daughters to one each. Thank you an excellent and useful product.

Really great!by Rachel

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I use mine for fudge making and it is great. Previously I had to stir with a spoon in one hand and have a thermometer in the other. Now I have a free hand to drink a cup of tea or read a book while I am stirring away! Very accurate and it even survived a dunk in the washing up when I forgot to remove the thermometer bit! Doubling up as a meat thermometer was also a bonus. Would not be without it now. Well 6 months on and the battery died.Fiddly screws and battery (corroded) seems fixed in place, had to bend housing to remove it and now cannot get the cover back on.

Loving using it.by S

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I have used mine to make jam, jellies and marmalade. However the first couple of tries came out under set - then my husband pointed out we live on a hill and temperatures change as you move away from sea level. So I tested it in a pan of boiling water and adjust the setting points of jams etc to the few degrees change. Now perfect results every time.

Thermospatula

We have had 3 so far. It works well when it works but it is unreliable and you cannot change the battery. So when the battery expires, you have to bin it.

I can't believe I dithered before purchasing!by Kate

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I have spent over a year wondering if the thermospatula was worth the price-- now I can't believe I lived this long without it! The tipping point came last week when a batch of rhubarb jam caramelised and I became convinced that my 20 year old traditional thermometer was no longer cutting it. As it turns out it was measuring 20 degrees F lower than the thermospatula. Made marmalade yesterday-- what a difference, no overcooking and still a good set! Thanks Lakeland-- this is a life-changing purchase!

Seemed good but not heat resistant it seems?by Miss Campbell

2 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I bought this as it looked like it would really help with jam making, as it would scrape the bowl and give a temperature. Worringly is isn't heat resistant- the plastic of the top has bubbled and melted the second time I used it. Also sadly there is no flexibility in the spatula (I wasn't expecting much-just enough to go round a curve!) Sorry to say after all the good reviews I'm left disappointed.

so simple to useby Christine

Thermospatula

I loved the idea of this spatula with built in digital thermometer but was a little sceptical about how well it would work. Tried it for the first time today and it is brilliant! Made a batch of herb jelly and the spatula allowed me to turn off the heat as soon at setting point was reached so ending up with a perfect soft set without overcooking and spoiling the flavour and none of that messing around with cold saucers or trying to read an ordinary jam thermometer through the steam. Using this anyone could make really professional tasting preserves

Fantastic Productby Mrs Holland

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

Saw this and thought it was an excellent idea, so bought one last week. Made some toffee today and it's brilliant, at bang on 120 deg C the toffee was ready. The only downside (so far) is that it negates the need to be testing in iced water for the right consistency, so I didn't get my usual soft toffee fix (this is the first thermometer I've owned). On to marmalade next. Do have to say the handle is a little thick for comfortable stirring, and could be longer, especially for jam making.

How could I ever do without?by Miss Craane

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

This spatula makes cooking foods which requires a close look at the temperature, such as custard and tempering chocolate so much easier. No more fiddling around with a sugar thermometer which never seem to be the right size for your pan and topple over. You have to stir anyway so adding a thermometer to the spatula is just a brilliant idea, and the probe doubles as a meat thermometer too! The only thing I would improve is to make a lefthanded version so I don't need to read the numbers upside down! ;-)

Thermospatula

Agree with earlier review - brilliant piece of equipment - making marmalade was so much easier and removed all guesswork and worth all five stars but replacing battery is so so fiddly. Could it be sold with the screwdriver?

LOVE LOVE LOVE ITby Lesley

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

already owning 4 thermometer probes, I did wonder if I could justify buying this as I put it in my basket, but oh boy can I ever. The regular probes still have their place for roasts etc (mostly because they are on wire and can be stuck into the joint the whole time its in the oven), but for everything done on the stove top, this spatula is my go to utensil. I also LOVE the way the bit with the electronics and battery comes out so the really sticky messy bit can go in the dishwasher.

Good, but...by R.I.

1 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

This themospatula has excellent potential but needs some improvements. It needs to be longer or have a wire to hook over the rim of a preserving pan to stop it sliding under the jam: it has to be held. There are no instructions with it. We guessed correctly that the plastic tab with a red arrow has to be pulled away but it was very tough, it needed strong man power. It would benefit from clearer instructions, on setting up and accessing the battery. I made one lot of jam but 104C on this device did not get a set.

After finding out about the spatula online, I went to the shop and bought the very last one! It is great, used it to make toffee. Very easy to clean. Absolutely love it!

Good idea, not quite 100%by Lousie

3 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I bought mine for the exact temps required in tempering chocolate. Mine turned out to be a couple of degrees out, taking 3 batches of ruined chocolate to work out that it wasn't me. I found the shape of the paddle was not right, having to use the tip to scrape down the sides - not as easy or comfortable as using the side. Also, because chocolate cannot have even a drop of water, you cannot quickly use the item a second time as the hole necessary for the probe will not dry quickly. The ability to buy separate and differently shaped paddles would be good. In my case, this was an expensive fail.

Great product for jam makingby Janet

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I love jam making put getting the setting point with a normal scale thermometer has also been a bit hit and miss but with this it was really easy. Bactches of perfectly set jam was so easy to do and with none of the usual worry about it setting. I am so glad I bought this as it has taken guess work out of finding the setting point.

Accuracy at lastby Howard

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I already have a preserving thermometer with a red liquid in a glass stem, but when I tested it in boiling water it was nowhere near 100 degrees. I bought this Thermospatula this week, and tested it in my boiling kettle. It registered exactly 100.0 degrees. Brilliant! The digital display is very easy to read. Now I can make perfect green tea that needs 60 to 80 degrees! Shame about the brown colour though. Black or white would be better?

VERY GOOD THERMOMETERby Rosemary

5 stars out of 5

Thermospatula

I have always used thermometers for making my jams and tablet. I like the idea of this one as you can sit it in the pan without the metal being in contact with the bottom of the pan. It would now be good to have the same thermospatula with the provision to set at the required temperature that beeps when that temperature is reached.
