This is the worst machine I've ever used, to start with if you want to make a Nice fluffy sponge ... Forget it, it doesn't rub the butter and sugar together very well at all, it just sticks solid to the sides, even when you scrape it off it just goes back again and looks dull and horrid. Secondly you have to hold the top down to get it to reach the bottom of the bowl. It's also really noisy and vibrates across the work top on full speed ! If your used to an old fashioned kenwood which was brilliant don't Waste your money. If they had a no star review I would give it that :( Very disappointing

Not good enough”
This was my first stand mixer and I was expecting quite a lot from it. My boyfriend and I ended up being disappointed with it and we returned it. We concluded a few points. Pros: Very nice food processor with suitable and variable blades. Especially good in shredding. Space saving and compact with various attachments. Cons: Mixer head not in dual circular motion like other stand mixers (e.g. the Chef and Pro line of Kenwood), making dough kneading really difficult. It was impossible to shape a wet dough. We tried 4 batches of dough of different recipes on different days and they all failed

great for small kitchen”
Picked this up from the Handforth store just before Christmas as I had a few bits to bake for family. Machine was perfect for the carrot cakes I had to make as it comes with a handy food processor attachment as well as juicer and blender. It also worked wonders on the Jamaican ginger cakes that contained lots of black treacle and golden syrup. Found the machine perfect for my needs as well as my small kitchen (I live in an apartment & surface is at a premium). Many thanks also to the kind gentleman that was working on the 22nd Dec approx 6pm who helped me out to my car with box -most kind.

Really good buy”
I have two Kenwood Chef Majors, two K Mix Machines, two Chefettes and this - the Prospero. I have to say of all the machines this is the one that surprised me the most! The angled beater ensures cake batter or buttercream is well mixed. The splash guard is well designed so that you can add ingredients during mixing. I've not used the food processor yet but these attachments can only be a bonus - great product, great price!

This multi system for our kitchen is one of the best we have used, it gets used everyday and still sounds and looks like new.

This mixer is brilliant but like Mary C I also had a problem with flour etc. coming out of the top at the back of the guard. I solved this by folding a piece of kitchen roll in half and feeding it down the back of the bowl before lowering beaters, carefully ease the paper over the gap to stop flour etc coming out,as for the gap at the front which I believe is to add extra,s to the mixture I have a small elasticated food cover[like a shower cap] which I fit over the hole and hey presto no mess, hope my tip is helpful to other uses . Sue.

Have used this machine to make different cakes and icing and each time I struggle with getting everything mixed and off the whisk. A lot of the batter goes into the middle of the whisk and it is very hard to remove unless it is a more liquid type of batter. It was worst with the buttercream icing when almost all the butter went inside the whisk and when sugar was added, the fine dust of sugar just flew everywhere despite the lid being on, as it took sometime before it combined with the butter. Very disappointing as I bought this to make baking easier but turned out more of a struggle!

great mixer, genral good for every day use”
by Miss Taylor
I bought this mixer to replace an old kenwood chef over 40 years old, When it broke I was gutted!! My first thought was that to get a replacement as good as the old one I was going to need to spend about £300 for the new kenwood chef, I was so wrong, I couldn't afford it and need an new mixer to make a birthday cake so took an impulse buy for the prospero. I have made cakes, soups, chopped onions and used it far more than I ever used my other mixer. It does all the tasks with great ease, sits nicly in the corner of the kitchen and easy, would of liked a glass blender but for price can't complain

Very pleased with this product which I received as a present. Have used it quite a lot for baking and I am impressed. It fits lovely on my counter in my kitchen. One question I would like to ask is if the mincer attachment on the website will fit this appliance, I have always wanted a mincer and it would be a bonus if it fits. If this does fit I would give it 5 stars.

kenwood prospero mixer”
I am very pleased with this product - yes it isn't as strongly built as my 30 year old mixer. It is a good size for a small kitchen and will probably be used every day to make bread. I bought this in the Canterbury shop together with the Evenslice bread cutter. Both very good products and excellent service as usual from the store staff especially Nicola, the Manager.

This product is very dissapointing. The metal bowl and attachements are as one would expect from Kenwood. However, the plastic shield, food processor and processor attachements are of poor quality and crack and chip easily. It does not get heavy use being used at the most twice a week but often much less. I have never put these in my dishwasher as I did read reviews prior to purchasing the product which informed me that the plastic went brittle if put in the dishwasher! It appears to be very brittle without that! The replacements are expensive especially bearing the quality in mind.

I am very pleased with my new Kenwood Prospero mixer now that it is up and running. Just a couple of notes. When unpacking the item make sure all the bits are removed from under the bottom polystyrene packaging, I first thought there were pieces missing. Secondly make sure the splash guard is in place when starting mixing. Also I suggest having a practice with all the bits prior to having a serious session. I have made several of the Bero milk Chocolate cakes - superb. Happy mixing Audrey

At last I can bake our bread again”
by Mrs Susan Pryor
I had to stop making bread by hand after develping arthritis. This little machine has changed all that. We use about 2 large loaves per week - usually wholemeal or multi-grain, and I can get all of them perfectly mixed, kneaded and ready for proving in 30 minutes. Fruit cakes and sponges mix perfectly, and my meringues are better than they have ever been. Well done Kenwood for producing a machine big enough to do all this but small to sit unobtrusively in a corner.

Just received my Kenwood Prospero and can't wait to use it. Good value as it includes a food processor, blender and juicer in the price. Only disappointment was that there was no recipe book included.

I love this mixer. I could not afford the larger ones and so I bought this when it came out. Yes the higher speeds do throw the powder ingredients out if you do not do what you should do as with all mixers and slowly incorporate it on a lower speed. Part of the reason is that the beater goes all around and up the sides resulting in great mixing. Therefore tha is a user issue and not a machine issue. I do think that the hole at the back of the lid should be covered as it can be a problem.

This was a christmas present and im constantly looking for reasons to use it! Yes it's noisy but what food mixer isn't at this price. I find it's better at high speed for mixing cakes etc and definitely needs the splashguard in place. The blender pureed my roast carrot soup in seconds The juicer made very light work of lemons straight out of the fridge (I was sceptical and didn't see the point but do now) The cakes I've made have been far better than anything I made in my old food processor or by hand In fact I've given the food processor and my standalone blender away to my sister

Having got a Kenwood Processor I thought I'd be better off with a food mixer, so again I placed an order with Lakeland. To my surprise I was amazed how well it was built. After using it for the first time I found it so easy to clean and (that was after making some bread which was a success). Secondly I did't realise it was processor as well that was a bonus, my Daughter In Law was happy, she got the old one. The only down side is that they don't include a recipe book as they do with their processors. Anyone thinking of buying a mixer would't go far wrong buying a Prospero. Dave Hone...Oxon
