Oxo Good Grips Mandoline Slicer”
I bought this mandolin slicer because of the other excellent reviews. Unfortunately I don't think it's very good at all. I'm not sure if it's my technique or what but it doesn't' grip the vegetable very well at all, I've tried different ways, making the item smaller or larger but it just won't hold on to it. So far I have used it on potatoes and onion. The onion tends to just disintegrate. I also find that even on the highest setting, the slices are far too thin, making the potatoes like crisps. All in all I feel like I have wasted my money, and I wouldn't recommend this item

Not so good”
Really disappointed with this product . I bought it to do thin slices of potato but didn't do a very good job. The slices weren't even and it was impossible to get a full slice.

Bought this a couple of years ago and it's still going great. I looked at the more expensive ones thinking maybe they would be better, but am so glad I went with this one as it's perfect.

This mandoline is great for onions and cucumbers. But not so great for tomatoes, I just ended up with tomato mush. The thickest slice is the best one. Very easy to clean

First class design and easy to use and clean. A safety lock when you are not using it makes washing up much safer. The different settings are just right for all needs. Would not do without this in the kitchen.

Soooo much fun!”
LOVE LOVE LOVE this product...may even have to buy a second one. So far it has been used for tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, carrots, courgettes, cheese, chocolate... The only problem is getting it washed and dried in between uses! Was a disaster for mozzarella. Well I wanted slices for a pizza, so slight mushiness was fine, for a salad it would have been a right mess. Visiting 8 and 13 year olds, had a great deal of fun slicing salad veggies for their own lunch, so great for lazy hostesses like me! I like the difference in thicknesses, but a couple more to go even thicker would be fab.

use the safety guard”
by Mrs Emmie Hinchliffe
I bought this last week and loved it for 3 days, until I forgot the guard! As I'd been 'on a roll' and going quite fast, I lost 2 thick slices from the end of my finger-my fault completely, I agree-but I do think some sort of attachment between the safety guard and the blade to release it, would be a great feature to stop this happening to other people. I also notice it is designed for right handed people and when using with the left hand, I had to pick out many bits from the blade-again quite scary. I hope my finger will make a full recovery!

No More Sliced Fingers!”
by Karen Spencer
A really excellent piece of equipment. Lovely to have very thinly sliced veg. Only reservation is that I'd like to be able to cut slightly thicker slices. Not a lot of difference between the thinnest and thickest.

Save time, and fingers!”
I love the way that the cutting widths are adjustable without the requirement of adding different blades. it is also very easy to clean and is used almost every single day at my home.

Fantastic little gadget!”
absolutely great little thing, use it every day for something or other. Like the fact that the blade can be locked and kept safe. Interchangeable blades are a nightmare for me. Great little tool. Highly recommend it.

Initially very pleased with this little device - seems better suited to potatoes (which it does superbly for dauphinoise) but it balks at Jerusalem artichokes and celeriac - took quite a bit of effort to slice both of those veg as evenly as the spuds.

Great but handle with care!”
by Dr Gibson
This mandolin is safe ONLY if you use it properly. It is essential to hold the protective holder correctly (as shown in the photo) with all 5 digits of that hand. The very first time I used mine, I decapitated the top 5mm of my ring finger because I was not holding it properly. It took weeks to heal and has left a numb area! However, since then I have used the mandolin without a problem - though it did take some courage to do so!

Does a fast but perfect job”
My family are fans of potatoes dauphinoise and I cook them at least twice a week but slicing the potatoes thinly is a time consuming job and I have little enough to spare! This tremendous little item does a fast and perfect job of giving me slices that are of equal thickness...which means they cook evenly...and I can slice 2kg of potatoes in just a few minutes. I love it and highly recommend it not just for spuds but lots of other things too. Don't know how I ever managed without it.

I just wanted to back up the other review - on whose recommendation I bought this mandolin - this mandolin is an excellent tool - does just what it says it will do easily and simply. And the safety lock is very simple and effective. I'm delighted with this

Oh! What a lovely little slicer”
All I was looking for was something to slice my vegetables thin enough to help my addiction to potato and vegetable gratins after being unable to get them thin enough the manual way. This is just GREAT! It's small enough to slip in one of my drawers without cluttering it up with extra blades, the hand guard works by keeping your pinkies away from the super sharp blade and grips even tomatoes and I love the fact you can choose the thickness, no more having to change over blades! It didn't slip when I used it over a bowl either and feels nice and sturdy. Also you can slide the blade to a "locked" position which is genius. If all you are looking for a tool to slice your veg thinly (or thickly), quickly and safely then TADA! Here it is. Love, love love it. Never done a review before but HAD to tell others how lovely and great this little thing is!
