disappointed with this product”
I bought this as I thought it would be easy to use, for myself not a younger person. You cannot use it one handed, the section doesn't work and cheese gets caught in drum and you have to keep clearing it. It doesn't come apart easily. On the whole a waste of money, I bought a different grater from Lakeland and that along with this is sitting in the cupboard. I bought an electric multi purpose machine which is wonderful.

Sad 4 year old : (”
I bought this product for my 4 1/2 year old daughter for her birthday as she absolutely loves the t.v programme and cooking. She's very strong for her age, but found it really difficult to use this. I tried it myself when she got upset and frustrated, and it took a lot of effort to push the veg (esp carrots) down and grate it effectively as an adult. The result was a very teary birthday girl : ( I haven't been able to return it as i was so confident in Lakeland products having bought them for years i disposed of receipt so can't even exchange for another cooking product for her

Not fit for purpose”
We will be throwing ours away - it just isn't great for children. It takes great effort to grate, and what you do get is mush at the end of it. We purchased it specifically to slice cucumber and again it just does not work. Surprised that Lakeland endorse this product.

This is brilliant I use it most days & so simple to use even my 2 year old enjoys helping grate cheese. The only problem I found is the suction cup doesn't like my matte grainy work surface. After using it on my mother in laws shiny marble work surface which worked perfectly, I get round the problem by putting it on the kitchen table & it's great! I would definitely recommend it, my mother in law loved it so much she bought one!

Not often (if ever) I leave a negative review but on this occasion I'm afraid I am going to. Difficult to get apart to clean after use. A lot of cheese gets stuck in the gripper that pushes down. Highly over priced for a piece of plastic - in fact a total waste of money! Gutted - as was my son. (would rate 0 stars but not able to!)

I bought this grater so that my 2 year old grandson could help in the kitchen. However we tried grating cheese. The cheese stuck very quickly inside the grater to start with and came out in a blob with a scraper. Then , so like many others, we couldn't get it apart for washing/cleaning despite having followed assembly instructions. This is just not fit for purpose as it is and I will be returning mine for a refund under the superb Lakeland guarantee. I wish I'd read reviews before buying on an impulse in the shop. My hands aren't as strong as they were now so it is, for me , useless.

Sadly not impressed”
I bought this not actually realising it was for children but bought it thinking it was good for storing the cheese when grating. I am afraid that I too had the problem of not being able to separate the handle and the grater once used I had to resort to a pair of pliers to do the deed! I tried the suggestions given on your website but to no avail. I am afraid I will not be using this again. This is the first time I have bought from your company and not found the item up to an excellent standard. Perhaps the design needs to be looked at by the manufacturer.

Just not good enough”
I purchased the grater for my son's birthday back in Feb. We use it maybe once a week. However I don't think it is fit for purpose for the following reasons: *The grater only really works with cheese. It’s a struggle to grate any other products (eg carrots) and food with a higher water content, such as apples, just turn into mush. *The box shows a picture of beautifully sliced cucumber; we tried this but it just produced paper thin strips. *The turning handle is far too difficult too get off. *The suction pad comes easily unstuck; this has got progressively worse and is very frustrating.

For children? I think not!!!”
by Mr Williams
Santa brought this for our two boys (3 and 6 year old). When my eldest romoved it from the box my heart sank. You can tell by looking that the blades are blunt from new. When stuck down it still moves around a bit but the real dissapointment is that neither boys were able to use it. I had a go and can only rate it as VERY poor quality. It doesn't grate properly and you are left with a large thin slice that slips down between the blade and body. It is hard to use, produces a "mush" rather than a clean grate. I can't think of any plus sides to this gadget and can only say don't buy it.

I can cook grater”
I have been very disappointed with this product. It is safe, robust and easy to clean once it is in pieces and most of the food came away with little effort. On the other hand my three and a half year old wasn't strong enough to use it unaided and getting the handle off to clean it was extremely difficult for both my husband and myself. The children on the television programme must have had help to use it.

A note from the team: We've spoken to our suppliers about this, and they have the following advice: We recommend using a tea towel to grip the barrel and help removal after grating wet ingredients like carrots. We also suggest removing the handle immediately after grating. We'd like to put things right for you, so we'll be in touch.
It's OK, but not that good”
by Jacqueline Hathaway
I bought this because I thought it would be exactly what I needed to grate cheese without grating my fingers. It's OK, but the action of turning the handle to grate the cheese seems to tighten it onto the barrel, and when you want to take the whole thing apart, you have to get some pliers to isolate the barrel so that you can unwind the handle. When you do this, you risk cracking the plastic. I also thought that a lid for the jug would be useful, so you can put it straight in the fridge if you wanted to, but that's a very minor point.

This would be a fine product as it's easy to use and sturdy enough. However as with other reviewers it is sitting on the draining board as I can't remove the handle and have managed to grate the skin of my fingers trying. This is a major fault with the design- don't buy this product unless this is sorted.

Ideal for pre-schoolers”
My 2 and 3 year old daughters love using this to make their own recipes and to help with family meals. It is very good for grating cheese. However, I find it difficult to unscrew the handle for cleaning. Also I have found that the largest grating insert does not grate vegetables such as courgette or carrot at all.

Bought to help with those times when my wee boy wants to help make tea, but darent let him use a standard grater. Does grate successfully but far too fiddly to put together, and wash, that son loses interest when we go to use it.

This is a great grater;0) However the suction lever snapped on my first one. Lakeland were excellent and replaced it with no hassles at all. I've had no problems with my new grater..brilliant for cheese, chocolate, carrots etc..saves lots of time, energy and mess!! Would recommend..great customer service too Lakeland..thankyou!!

My 3 yr old daughter loves using this & can turn the handle herself easily as the suction pad is very good and holds the grater firm. However I would agree with the other reviews that say it is really difficult to get the handle off again to take it apart when you have finished. Once you have, it is very easy to wash. Overall a good product.

I bought this for my daughter to start helping in the kitchen safely. My husband and I CANNOT remove the handle from the grater drum. We are now left with a unusable dirty grater.

A note from the team: Thanks for your review. To remove the handle, place your thumb inside the drum (taking care to grip the smooth plastic not the grating blades) and hold it steady while you twist the handle gently (anti-clockwise) to loosen. We'll be in touch to help.
Great product for helpful toddlers”
I wasn't sure how well this would work, but thought we'd give it a try. I am pleased to say that it works brilliantly. My 2.5 yr old can grate cheese with a little help turning the handle. Hardly any cheese is left behind in the top. Once assembled there's no sharp edges for little fingers. It's a little tricky to undo the handle from the drum afterwards. The suction grip doesn't work on my worktop which has a fine texture, but the suction grip just about works on a large silicone mat. Overall I'd recommend this product.

Not very impressed”
by Mrs Jacqueline Simpson
This is the first time I have left a review and I feel I must leave a comment. I recently bought this in store. I thought my girls would love this as I had been trying to find something similar. But after using it for the first time to grate cheese. The machine kept moving on my work top as it kept losing suction, this got very frustrating as you had to keep re-doing the leaver. Once finished I then couldn't get it apart for washing. I had to leave it and return to it later as I was then loosing my temper. Must state it's not the same as the one they use on the program.
