Not as expectedby Miss Hamer

Insulated Butter Dish

I bought one of these fairly recently. My butter is still rock hard and will not spread. I know it's not summer yet but the butter dish is indoors, central heating etc so not exposed to extremes of temperature. Therefore I don't understand it. Very expensive for a butter dish esp when it doesn't do what it says in the description, in my opinion the description is false. What is Lakeland actually doing to resolve this as I am not the only person who has mentioned this fault?

Insulated Butter Dish

i have had this butter dish for several years and have been happy with it, but it now has brown patches on the bottom which, having read other reviews, I feel must be because I have used butter with salt crystals in it. It does look unsightly, so I shan't use it anymore. My husband likes salt crystals in his butter so its a question of whether to replace the butter dish or my husband;-)

Insulated Butter Dish

I've had this dish for many years and am very surprised by the negative reviews. Has the spec changed? I keep it out of direct sunlight in the summer but have never had to put it in the fridge. If the house is warm enough to live in the winter the butter is spreadable. My Canadian niece was so impressed when she visited 2013 she bought one on her next visit. This is my "forever" butter dish.

Insulated Butter Dish

When I saw this I thought my rock hard or too soft butter problems were over but not so. The dish looks attractive but it doesn't keep butter any cooler than my old, non-insulated dish. I had hoped that we could leave the butter out of the fridge in the summer but that certainly won't be possible.

This product does just what it claims to do. It keeps butter spreadable whatever the temperature in the kitchen. Excellent, and it is dishwasher safe too, which is a bonus.

I bought this butter dish recently thinking it would solve my frustrations with rock hard butter, but no it does not work!! if I leave it out on the worktop it is soft and in the fridge rock hard. this is really bad advertising.

I wish I hadn't bought itby Eileen

Insulated Butter Dish

My beloved Emma Bridgewater butter dish got smashed so I went out to replace it. I bought this one in our local Lakeland thinking it would be a decent replacement. Wish I hadn't bothered. It takes full pack of butter but it doesn't keep butter as firm (without being too hard) as I would like; in fact butter becomes one step away from total meltdown. The rim of the dish gets messy and frequently needs wiping. Thankfully, I have now got a replacement EB dish which, because it is deep with no sloping edges, does what a butter dish should. Lakeland dish is off to the charity shop!

Not to the quality i am used to.by Elizabeth

Insulated Butter Dish

Have always been very pleased with all previous Lakeland purchases, however not so this product, butter was like oil in the hot weather so I put the dish in the fridge and it became as solid as a rock, we have a cool kitchen so would not have expected the butter to melt even in hot weather, now the weather is cooler the butter remains very hard even when left on the work surface. Very disappointing for the money paid.

Insulated Butter Dish

I have been told by a dietician that butter is better for our health as spreadables have nasty chemicals added to them to allow them to spread better but they are not good for you. I am very pleased to say that the insulated butter dish does a great job in keeping butter at a spreadable temperature in this wonderful summer weather we are enjoying at the moment, and have no hesitation in giving the dish a 5 star rating, so much so that I am about to purchase one for my sister in law.

Insulated Butter Dish

I have bought many Lakeland products in the past and have always been pleased with the quality so although I thought this item was pricey I thought it would be a trustworthy product. However, this is a total waste of money. It's failed to keep my butter cool and the butter is as soft as it was when kept in my crockery butter dish!!! I will think carefully in future before paying the extra money for a Lakeland product.

This is uselessby

Insulated Butter Dish

I consider this product to be not fit for purpose as it does not allow butter to be spreadable in the colder weather nor does it keep the butter from becoming very soft in the warmer weather. It is over priced for what is it is and I consider it to be a disaster. Sorry I bought it in the first place

Insulated Butter Dish

I have had my butter dish less than a month and it has discoloured badly. I think it might be because I use butter with salt crystals, but there was nothing to indicate this was not suitable and would cause this problem. I like the idea of keeping the butter out of the fridge at all times, however it's very off putting when the butter is brown under neath.

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry the butter dish has discolored and not been as expected. We agree the butter with the the salt crystals may cause this to discolor. We will pass your comments forward to our buying team to have this added to the instructions. We'll be in touch shortly to help.

Had one for 10 years and it's brilliant!by S

Insulated Butter Dish

I am really surprised at some of the negatives reviews. We've had one of these for around 10 years and it's absolutely brilliant. It may be expensive, but it's practically indestructible, so I anticipate never having to get another butter dish. The butter is almost always just right for spreading. The only time it's hard is if it's very cold and we have no heating on. I've never known the butter to go runny, even in very hot weather.

Lot of money for a "Normal" butter dishby Mrs Abbott

1 stars out of 5

Insulated Butter Dish

I paid around £18 which is expensive for a butter dish. I wish I hadn't bothered. It is no better than the £4 stainles steel butter dish I bought many years ago which is still going strong. It does not keep the butter at an even temperature. The reason I purchased this insulated butter dish was to avoid runny butter when it gets too warm and rock hard butter from having to refrigerate it. I feel as if I have wasted the money and agree with the negative reviews on here. My advice is don't bother with it, and if you live in the UK, just by spreadable butter from the Supermarkets.

Insulated Butter Dish

a little unsure about this as it does have some bad reviews, but needed a new dish so went ahead. Its a good size - holds a 250g perfect, I find the plate with a lid style gets messy when the children use it, the lid gets covered with butter when replacing, this style they manage fine. The only problem has been with the very hot weather this summer, but I find if I put it in the fridge overnight its fine, stays good all day, not to "sloppy" but spreadable.

This dish is the only container for butter which stays soft in cool weather, spreadable at all times, doesn't melt in the summer heat (even outside!) and the steel looks good, too. Shame there aren't more than five stars for this product...

Overpriced!by Kate

Insulated Butter Dish

Bought this regardless of the poor reviews, opting to believe the positive ones! What a mistake, we have just wasted £18 on a normal butter dish, which we could have got for a fraction of the price! We don't keep our butter in the fridge, and yet during the winter months it's rock solid inside the dish. Meaning we still need to zap it in the microwave to make it spreadable. Bought in to a gimmick, totally regret it now. Sigh, Lakeland...you're usually so good.

Insulated Butter Dish

I've had my butter dish for years, and it's never let me down. The butter does become runny in exceptionally hot weather; but most of the time it's fine. And my butter is ready to spread whenever I need it. I've certainly never regretted my purchase.

Well basically it doesn't do what it says on the tin. The butter went very sloppy when left out in the dish (lid in place of course). When in the fridge its too hard. Kind of useless really so I will be returning it tomorrow for a refund as its not cheap at £18.99 for something that doesn't really do its job
