Did not work for me”
I wanted this to try and make some ice cream from Almond Milk. I chilled the milk well before starting and as other reviews stated ice cream was very runny I put timer on for 30 minutes. After 25 minutes the lid popped off - the mixture was just as runny as it went in with a little bit frozen on the sides. So this will be going back for a refund

Easy to use and excellent results”
I've never made ice cream before, and was tempted by this product in the Lakeland sale. It arrived quickly, was very easy to use (I did read the instruction manual first!), and the resulting vanilla ice cream was delicious, easily on a par with luxury bought brands. I didn't have any of the problems experienced by other reviewers, and put the churned ice cream in the freezer for about 45 min before eating - the texture and degree of hardness were just right for me. I'll be experimenting with other flavours soon, and look forward to not having to buy ice cream again.

Don't waste your money!”
I loved Lakeland and used gift vouchers to buy this. It's small and looked easy to use. After freezing the bowl for several hours I tried to use it three times (used correctly) but it didn't freeze the ice cream/sorbet only turning them into cold mush. I had to freeze the items the old fashioned way. The design is all wrong with a lid that is clunky and there is one tiny pin that is instrumental in making the machine work. Lose that pin and forget it! I was so disappointed that I haven't been back to Lakeland since. Now I have more vouchers ...

I bought mine and used it for the first time today, I made the most amazing Vanilla ice cream I have ever tasted!!! Fantastic Lakeland!!! I would say though, that it would be nice if it made larger quantities.

One of the best 'gadgets' I have ever bought!”
Wonderful. I use it at least acouple of times a week. Dont do many recipes just use greek yoghurt and add sugar and flavourings (raspberry, malibu+coconut, chocolate, pecans+maple). When there are only two of us I freeze half in a plastic container each time. Only downside is that the timer writing has completely rubbed off and the scoop was really not up to the job and broke first time. But...well worth the money and not a gadget which will recline at the back of the cupboard then go to a charity shop!!

Brilliant ice cream first time”
Bought last week and have made four different batches of ice cream adapting recipes to use much less cream than stated and also avoiding raw egg.Brilliant results as long as the mix is not too thick when you start and you are prepared to put it in freezer when churned.Also don't try to thin the liquid once you have started to churn as it will ice over on the base and the machine will stop! Cant wait to try the latest batch; 'Monkey Gone to Heaven' from 'Melt' by Claire Kelsey. Mmmmmm.

good value for money”
This is good value and makes nice ice cream. Manual that comes with it needs more recipes and it doesn't mention how to line up the arrows on the bowl so the motor runs but for £40 that's ok! Ice cream is smooth and creamy best eaten fresh. Add vodka if you put it in the freezer for any length if time otherwise it'll be rock solid!

Bought this on a whim, what a great decision! Easy to use and clean, you really can't go wrong with this. Only thing I would change is a few more recipes in the manual!

Important: Line the arrows up!”
Used this twice so far, the ice cream was delicious but very, very soft (after a 25 min churn). If you wish to eat it straight after churning you need to eat it immediately. I put the rest into the freezer, that seems to have made it firmer although I haven't yet eaten it from freezer. The second time I couldn't get it to work, panicked, came to this website and luckily found a helpful review that told me the arrows must be lined up at the back. To be fair it does say this in the booklet but a troubleshooting page wouldn't go amiss. Great product overall, instructions could be clearer though.

All is not lost!”
I was hugely disappointed with my first attempt in this machine, which resulted in a pile of slop, so I read the reviews (after the event!) and saw how they swing between scathing and raving. I tried a second time, and noticed that after 14 hours in my self-defrosting freezer, the gel was still only partly frozen and moving around in the bowl, so I put it in my old freezer, turned it up to Super Freeze, and left it for 8 hours while I made my ice cream mixture and left it to chill in the fridge. Result, brilliant, and only needed another hour in the freezer. FROZEN BOWL is the key.

This ice cream maker churns for 25 minutes and it as runny as when you pour it in, sometimes its set at the edges but the middle is still runny. I then have to put in the freezer for 4-6 hours to make it firmer, then it goes rock hard at the edges and the middle is just set. What a waste of money and time spend trying to make this ice cream. After the cost of buying the ingredients I'm very out of pocket. with out the ice cream I wanted. not impressed.

Not a good experience”

I bought my first machine and it was faulty as the paddle just fell out. Lakeland swapped this for me and I tried out the second machine but the ice cream was very disappointing as it was solid at the sides and liquid in the middle. When I then put it in the freezer it hardened to a solid mass and was very icy to eat. I have made much better ice cream manually although it is a bit of a chore to keep stirring it in the freezer. Asked for a refund now as will go back to the manual method.

I've had this for over a year. I found it a bit fiddly at first but soon got the hang of it. It makes great ice cream.

I bought this machine to make dairy-free ice-cream as the local shops don't stock anymore. So far, I have made 2 flavours, using a lovely recipe book. The first, strawberry ice cream was made with dairy just to test and it turned out very well. The second was made with coconut milk and lime juice and is completely delicious.... I can see a lot of experimenting coming up, to find what other dairy-free alternatives and flavours I can create... Simple to set-up, clear instructions, the only issue I had was the mixer paddle fell out on the first use. But I'm aware now, so no drama's!! Love it!

Another great product”
Although it has a big bowl, wish it could do larger quantities. So far, all results have been very good and very yummy. Always need to refreeze as it can still be a bit soft. Using yoghurt made from our Lakeland yoghurt maker we have a little factory on the go! Now need another bowl. Would be good if people could share their successful recipe ideas on this site.

Very disappointed. Ice cream maker broke after one use. A storage container for ice cream would have been useful, and I felt the scoop was an unnecessary addition (who doesn't already own an ice-cream scoop in this day and age?)

When i brought my machine i was so excited for the taste of homemade ice cream. I love my machine and brought an extra bowl so we are always making loads of yummy flavors. It always creates a creamy ice cream for all to enjoy. :)

My Kitchen Ice Cream Maker”
I was going to treat myself to the Cuisinart Ice 30 but saw equally good reviews for this one in a magazine - the fact that the Lakeland version was considerably cheaper and I had a £10 off voucher clinched the deal... I am really thrilled with the machine - it's quiet in use and the ice cream it produces is absolutely delicious. My only bugbear is that the opening in the lid is a little small when pouring in the mixture.

Fantastic ice cream every time”

I bought this ice cream maker for my 11 year old daughter's birthday, I read a lot of reviews and this seemed to get the best reviews for a frozen bowl ice cream maker. We are both frilled with this ice cream maker because it produces beautiful ice cream every time. I would say to make the perfect ice cream, you need to use an electric whisk when making the ice cream mixture to get a lovely smooth texture, and then chill the mixture in fridge until nice and cold. We have made milk, dark and white chocolate ice cream, and peanut butter and vanilla ice cream.

Instructions not clear enough”

I launched straight into the strawberry ice cream recipe, making the mixture and putting it into the frozen bowl. I failed to notice that I should start the paddle moving first then pour it in (error #1). Error #2 was that I didn't suss out that there were two grey arrows that needed lining up, and put the lid on at 180deg to its correct position, meaning the motor wouldn't start the paddle turning. I thought it was broken, and packed it back up to return to the shop. Thanks to reviewer Helen, I've saved myself the petrol! Lakeland - Foolproof instructions are as vital as a good product!!
