I wrote a review a while back when I had taken my kettle back because the lid had sheared off at the hinge - I regret to say that after taking my 5th kettle back I have now got a refund and given up with this kettle. Such a shame but thank goodness for the refund policy offered by Lakeland.

This is a lovely kettle, and ticked all the boxes for me, but sadly we had to return it as the lid broke within a few weeks. We exchanged it for another, and today after only a few weeks we had to return the second one, with the same problem. I feel this kettle has an inherent problem. This time we decided on a refund and bought a different kettle elsewhere.

I wish I had read the reviews before buying the kettle. The lid will not stay closed which is a serious defect. This occured shortly after purchase and has not improved. Lakeland have refunded my money and I'm buying a new kettle elsewhere.

At 73, I've owned a few kettles. Never found a hinged lid kettle lasted. Some 18 months ago, I replaced yet another malfunctioning kettle with the Lakeland Kettle. Its marvelous. Not a sign of weakness. Works just great and wasnt expensive either!! So I'm just lucky, is that it?

Lovely kettle, boils quickly and quietly BUT am now having to return a SECOND one as the plastic lid mechanism has shattered once again. First kettle lasted 4 weeks, second lasted 6 weeks.

I like this kettle. The only problem is, I live alone, and like to boil one cup if water, the least I can measure is 2 cups.

Didn't last Long !”
After a very short time the lid refused to open & I found that the plastic hinge had snapped. Quite flimsy. I was also not prepared for it being so hot to the touch - should have know with being stainless - but be aware. I will be taking mine back. Thank goodness for Lakeland's return policy. At least I always know there will be no problem with faults.

Looks good and pours beautifully. But why oh why are the gradations in cups (which is a foreign measurement) and not in ml. or fl.oz.? And why was this not clear in the catalogue?

A note from the team: Thanks for your feedback. The cup measures refer to cups or mugs of hot drink rather than standard Australian or American measuring cups. If you’re boiling the kettle for a couple of people simply fill it to the 2 cups level and you won't be paying to boil more water than you need. We’ll certainly pass the suggestion for a millilitre measurement to our buyers.
This is my second of these kettles after the 1st one appeared to leak as their was a pool of water around it after it boiled and lakeland replaced it extremely quickly (next day), however this one appears to have developed a sticking lid which also randomly flips open when boiling. So looks like I shall have to exchange again.

Lakeland Brushed Stainless Steel Kettle”
I have to say I love this kettle! I did read the reviews prior to purchasing it, but for £29.99 (and a lifetime's guarantee) I didn't feel I could go far wrong. The kettle boils fast and quietly, and pours really well, as for the lead, I find that for me and where I have the kettle it is more than long enough to stand clear from being under the cupboards and away from the lighting.

to start with I was not happy with this product, the lid would pop open whilst it was heating up the water - dangerous - but just when I thought I was going to have to return it, it rectified itself. I have had it about a month or so now and I'm really happy with it, boils enough water for my needs nice & quickly, so I'm not wasting water or electricity heating up more than I need. A nice little product.

This is a nice looking kettle and does boil quickly - however I am just about to return my second one as the lid has just sheared off at the hinge - this is the second kettle that this has happened to so thank goodness for the Lakeland returns policy! I used to find that steam escaped from the lid as it does not seal when shut.

This kettle worked fine at first and looked the part too. Bought in store and was offered a life time guarantee, was pleased this was a good sign. A few months later the lid started to stick, the had incident where it flew open whilst boiling. Hot steam got into under cupboard lights lucky no one hurt. Additionally there is some rust by the spout. So overall whilst it does boil well I wouldn't buy another one and want to return this one but the store is miles away and not worth the trip. So still on the hunt for a good kettle that doesn't develop a fault. Would like a compact one that's neat.

Great looking kettle but disappointed”

Having originally purchased this kettle in Feb 2011 I had to return in Mar 2011 as the lid came off, it was as if it had 'melted'. Now around 1 month later the same thing has happened and I will be making another trip back to the store. It is a great looking kettle and I can agree with all the previous comments but this lid appears to be its let down.

Had this kettle for 6 weeks, nice looking kettle, quick boil, only problem is the blue light has gone. Ah well the kettle still works. An update to say this was sorted very promptly by Lakeland. Excellent customer service Thank you.

Slimline, fast boiling and attractive to look at. Deducted a star as the flex needs to be a few inches longer to clear cupboards over kitchen worktops - otherwise the steam 'lifts' the laminate on the cupboards.

A surprisingly flimsy kettle (for Lakeland) but does what it is designed to do - boils quietly and quickly, easy to pour and fill. Limescale filter could be a bit finer but I use a strainer in our hard water area anyway. Not sure what use the light is but its fun!

Just got my new Lakeland kettle and I have to say it's lovely, it looks so stylish and good on the worktop. Wish I'd bought one a long time ago. It's quiet & quick.
