Broke on its first use, the 3rd scoop of soft scoop vanilla caused it to fall apart. The scooping blade bent out of shape and then came off completely. Suitable for nothing other than the bin. Bought as a replacement for an old scoop from the £1 shop which worked perfectly for 3 years, this didn't even last 3 minutes. Avoid.

I thought I'd give this scoop a go even though there were quite a few negative reviews on here. The first time I used it, it broke as the lever that pushes out the ice cream got stuck and now doesn't work. I will be buying the other type that Lakeland sell, which hopefully will do the job!

I bought this scoop to use with icecream, assuming that it could handle icecream consistency (not just soft cupcake batter) and i was wrong! The pin popped out with the 2nd use... I tried popping it back in but it's become useless. Extremely disappointed with it :(

I have purchased two of these ice cream scoops, and I am sad to say that both have broken with very limited use. The first one broke on the first time of using it for cupcake batter, the rivet that holds the scoop part in place broke off, so putting it down to bad luck I purchased another one. The second one was used for soft scoop ice cream and this one has managed to jump on the ratchet so that now the scoop part does not lay inside the spoon. A total waste of £12, and unusual for a Lakeland product.

Waste of money”
by Christine MacDonald
Unfortunately, I have to say, it doesn't live up to Lakeland's usual high standard. When I received it, I was delighted as it felt a good weight and very sturdy but on the second time of using (on soft scoop) the slider bar stuck half way and didn't sweep the ice cream out. When at rest, the bar sticks out rather than being tucked inside the scoop. Update: Having read all the reviews I'm not the only one but the fault is in the manufacture so maybe that could be looked into. Lakeland have kindly refunded me.

Washed it by hand, dried it by hand and then dipped it in my cake mix to scoop out even sized cake balls only to discover that the moveable part that separates the contents from the hemisphere had broken and was now standing up! I am taking it back soonest possible. If the scoop couldn't handle a soft cake mix, then it won't stand ice cream which is much harder.

Bought this yesterday and it broke as soon as I used it! Didn't even manage one scoop from it as bar mechanism stuck and ice cream trapped inside. Waste of money and would cost more in petrol to return. Update Lakeland contacted me and sent out replacement. 5 stars for customer service!! My husband and I have been looking for one of these for ages, I was so pleased when I saw this in the promotional leaflet. After Using this for the 2nd time it broke, I tried to blame my husband for not using it correctly but he assured me that there was only one way to use it!

poor quality ice cream scoop”
by annette newman
very poor quality, the inside lever which releases the ice cream does not always come up, it sticks and I have to physically keep pulling the bar up each time to be able to use it. since I have received it I cannot rely on it to work

Proper old fashioned scoops like these appear to be very hard to come by. Excellent quality and feels like it will last a long time

Have tried this scoop for ice cream and mashed potato. Both times the swing bar moves out of position and makes the scoop useless.

Great does what it says on the tin”
Ideal for ice cream but brilliant for filling cupcake cases and the individual bun tins. Easy to use

So far, so good”
After reading all the reviews about this ice cream scoop I was a little worried about buying it but thought that if it breaks I'll just return it and get a different one. Well, so far, so good. I'm using it for my cupcakes like so many other people and it works really well. Can't say what it would be like with ice cream though.

Would not recommend”
by Sue Evans
Similarly to other reviews, we managed only 1 or 2 scoops before the ratchet made a strange clicking noise and the lever to push out the ice-cream was no longer in place. We managed to get it back into place but with every use, it breaks again. Definitely wouldn't recommend as we need a new ice-cream scoop again!

I loved this ice cream scoop. It was brilliant to begin with, especially for measuring cup cake batter. Unfortunately, it suddenly stopped working. The swing lever seems to be stuck in one position and so won't scoop. I always buy Lakeland products because of their superior quality so I was rather surprised when this happened.

When I bought this product, my husband admonished me for the high price of it, but I reassured him it was Lakeland quality and it'll be worth every penny... However, after using it just once, it made a strange clicking noise and now the swinging bar in the middle (which releases the ice cream from the scoop) doesn't go back into place. It sticks outside the scoop and though it still moves as I squeeze it, it is pretty useless and makes the process really awkward. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Purchased this scoop from the Stratford Upon Avon store in November whilst on a weekend away. Have not had the need to use this until the recent spell of good weather. How disappointing, it broke on the first use, the ratchet system to operate the clearing bar not working properly. Have always been really pleased with Lakeland purchases but this is not up to usual quality, and not the cheapest either.

Just what I wanted”
by Mr Carr
Recently becoming quite a keen baker, I've been irritated by my lack of dexterity when it comes to portioning out buns the same size - even getting the mix into the cases was a challenge! Seeing the pros on the TV often use an ice cream scoop I went searching. It seems they are however a tricky thing to find! Thus Lakeland provides my solution once again :) The scoop does wonderfully, perfectly sized for dolloping out the exact amount of batter for a perfect bun. Can imagine the mechanism not standing up to harder ice cream though! Ironic but nonetheless perfect for what I wanted!
