"Made my loaves worse"

I use wholemeal flour with gluten powder to make my loaves. I added this to my loaf and it caused it to collapse. My loaf came out at just under 3 inches high on the sides, and under 2 inches high in the middle. So that's all those ingredients wasted. I tried it with another recipe I use - wholemeal flour, gluten and carbalose and again it made it worse. It caused the dough to be lumpy. I'm disappointed with this product. I felt I was buying something to improve my dough all it does is cause it to rise faster. It doesn't change the dough at all.
