Good idea, but not quite rightby Jenny Butler

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

It's a nice quality and the head is a good shape but the hook is too far up the handle to hang on the side of my biggest pan without the spoon resting on the bottom, and is also just where I want to hold the handle. I wonder if I could take it off and re-glue it lower down? Also, a smaller version for use with smaller pans would be really good.

A note from the team: Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry that the spoon is too big for your pans and will be in touch shortly. We wouldn't recommend re-positioning the handle.

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

I purchased this with the Maslin pan and it has proved ideal. The hook makes it so much easier, no drips, and the flat bottom stirs well and stops any sticking. A brilliant product. Thank you Lakeland.

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

This product is exactly the reason why I have been shopping with Lakeland for decades! It is sturdy, great quality and most importantly: appears to be designed by cooks for cooks. As I seem to spend all Autumn making various chutneys, jams and other preserves; this spoon is the right size to get to the bottom of my preserving pan with ease and makes large batches so much easier to deal with. Thank you Lakeland for a simple and robust product that will last years (and I also have one for vinegar-based chutney and one for jam too).

Too bigby Linda Crawford

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

It's great to be able to get a spoon with a flat end but it is indeed far too big. The hook, I agree, is great, but I find it unwieldy in use, such a shame, I've reverted to a large wooden spoon.

Just what I neededby Marilyn Le Breton

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

I make several pints of tomato based sauce in one go, in the Lakeland My Kitchen Stockpot & I have never found a spoon that would reach right to the bottom of the mix. Problem now solved thanks to this spoon. It is very long & very substaintal and in a few short weeks it has earned its place in my kitchen. I wouldn't be without it.

Wonderful Spoon!by Joseph

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

I decided to purchase a preserving spoon as I always have to get all the equipment when doing something new! I must say this spoon is very useful. I chose not to invest in a maslin pan; instead I use my non stick hard anodised stock pot. This spoon is perfect as it gets into all the corners of the pan and does not scratch the non stick surface. The length of the spoon is a real benefit so your hand is not too close to the boiling hot preserve! A must have for anyone preserving at home.

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

Bought this spoon three 'autumns' ago and it has been brilliant and well used. The hook fell out after two years and the spoon bit started to split then too, but it did this year too - just. I make a lot of preserves for presents, so probably had the equivalent of about ten years use out of it. Can't possibly be without it now, so am ordering a new one with my birthday money!

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

So, I find myself in Lakeland (yet again)... this time buying jam making toys... and I ask myself 'do I really need another wooden spoon?' The answer is YES 100% I'm so glad I bought this.. nice long handle and flat edge to thoroughly mix the bottom of the pan.

Mine split!by Lesley-Anne Radcliffe

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

This spoon was exactly what I was looking for when I spotted it in your Chichester Store four weeks ago. I have used it twice and it has split straight down the middle of the spoon head. Great product, just the right size & I love the flat head, but mine was obviously faulty.

Good concept but just too bigby Dr Harrison

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

I couldn't believe the size of this spoon when i unpacked it. It's not exactly delicate or dextrous. I know a sturdy spoon is a must for preserving and the flat end is great but this spoon is just too big to use with ease. The hook is a good idea in principle but I don't want my spoon to cook with my preserve nor do i want drips on the hob. I wish you could find or make a scaled down model. I had a wooden spoon that from years of use had formed a corner and flat edge but it sadly broke; it's the best shape for a cooking spoon but I can't find one anywhere, except for the giant sized model I bought from you!

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

This spoon is really good for making chutney where the fruit/veg are more robust than for jam and a lot of stirring is involved. It's a good length and the blade is shaped a bit for scraping the corners of the pan.The hook is a definite plus as the spoon can dangle from the pan handle and the drips go back in the pan. Having laughed at me for buying it, my husband has now 'borrowed' it for wine-making........

My favourite preserving spoon!by Kris

Beechwood Preserving Spoon

My husband just can't understand how I can have a favourite wooden spoon, but I have and this is it! I wouldn't even contemplate making the preserves without it and have two:one for chutney and one for jam. It's shape is perfect for making sure you get to every little area of the pan and it's big and sturdy. It even has a great little hook on the back of the handle enabling it to be hooked over the side of the pan. Fantastic item!
