Sadly, the search for a good knife sharpener continues”
Looking for an alternative to a sharpening iron, I bought this item on impulse as it was on offer at £24.99 (not cheap). In theory it sounds like the ideal unit but despite having diamond clad surfaces it does not work very well. I did not find it very effective and anything more than minimum pressure takes the knife blade - especially on large knives - lower than the diamond covered area. Reading previous reviews I understand that previous versions had more extensive diamond coverage. Sadly, the search for an reliable, effective knife sharpener continues. I wish I had read the reviews first!

Not good value anymore”

I really like these sharpeners, i have an alternative sharpener for serious sharpening but I use the Ozitech in between as its so simple. I have just received my second one and was really disappointed to find they have reduced the diamond coating by about 50%! This means its now a lot easier to push my knives beyond the diamonds onto the bare metal. Ok I now have to be extra careful when I use it but what this also means is that its going to ware out a LOT sooner! When the diamonds on the previous one wore off you just applied more pressure to find more diamonds. I think this will be my last one.

An expensive buy but wanted a really good sharpener. It is compact and yes, does sharpen knives quite well. However it is a very poor design with the flaps either side which are delicate and in the way when sharpening. Needless to say I have managed to slice off the flap when sharpening a long knife. I therefore would not recommend and wish I hadn't thrown away my old cheaper one!

Will listen in future!”
Wish I had listened to Michael. Have tried more than a few times to use this [and watched the video more than once] but time and time again have fished my very old sharpener out of retirement. Am sending for Lakeland sharpener.

Over 5 years on and still going strong!”

I was lucky enough to be purchased one of these as a gift about 5 years ago. It's brilliant and is still going strong. I am very happy with this product. I would have given it 5 stars if one of the side flaps hadn't fallen off about 2 years ago.

Went to Lakeland originaly to buy some new kitchen knives , but decided that a new knife sharpener would be a better option, persuaded by boyfiriend. So after talking to the very helpful manager , Watford branch for those who are interested , who confirmed my choice, purchased this item.Love it, so easy to use , compact and has sharpened the bluntest knife in my block.

Does what it says on the tin!”
This is an ingenious gadget which folds out from its neat plastic casing to form an easy-to-use and extremely effective domestic knife sharpener. All my kitchen knives had been blunted by an old steel but have now been resorted to razor sharpness by this device. It is extremely easy to use and folds into a neat flat package for storage. I heartily recommend this product.

I took my husband for his first time to a Lakeland store. He saw this, he bought this, he raves about this, best thing since sliced bread!! All to do with the angles so I am told. I don't mind, my knives have never been so sharp. Thank you Lakeland

It really does work - eventually”
by Brooke Ward
The trouble with old knives that have been sharpened by hand is that they don't have the right cutting angle. It can take many strokes to grind down to the 20 degree angle before you get a sharp edge. My arm's aching now. With a newish set of coloured knives it took 20 strokes and then it sliced a tomato beautifully. A bit disappointing considering the price.

A note from the team: Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. This sharpener will convert your knives to a sharp & durable 20º edge. Depending on the knife's original edge, it may take a few more strokes than normal to get to 20º - after this sharpening will be a quick and efficient.
Another miracle worker”

I'm going to confess, I was very sceptical as to whether this knife sharpener would work. I have tried so many sharpeners over the years, and they have all been useless, and I'm not very good with using a steel. However, I was encouraged that this one was being sold in Lakeland, and the assistant I spoke to assured me it would work. He was right! I didn't think my knives were too bad before, but it has completely transformed them, and is so easy to use! I also like the safety features, and the fact that it folds up small so can be stored easily in a drawer, but not so small that it will get lost. Well done Lakeland!

Will give your knives new life”
I bought this after a recommendation from a friend. I had thought that my knives had been kept in reasonable condition by using my old sharpener but I was amazed at the improvement after using this one. It is expensive but more than worth the money - compare it with the cost of buying one good quality knife and yet this will give you a whole set of sharp knives again!

I bought one of these fantastic sharpeners on a visit to Australia, and have been pleased with the ease of use and excellent sharpening power. I am pleased to be able to purchase them from Lakeland now and give them as presents...

A little awkward to use, especially for small knives but sharpens well and takes up little drawer space.
